Dear Angie.

If you have NOT gotten it, why are you worried about telling her you did? If you ARE close to your mom then this should be the easiest thing to talk about since she went through it too. This is one of those things you DO discuss with mom and not with strangers. I have three girls and the first one trusted me enough that she told me some pretty personal stuff as it came up, I felt honored. This is something you should definitely talk over with your mom even before it happens, not only will she appreciate your trust in her, it will really open the opportunity for true bonding between you two.

just say mom, its time to buy those girly products for me!! she will get the message, and then maybe she will take to you about what you are in for.

It feels like nothing! Aside from possible cramping, you really don't "feel" your period unless you've bled a lot. If you're bleeding a lot into your underwear, then you're going to just feel wet for some unknown reason, lol. I would recommend stocking up on pads and just carrying one around in your backpack or purse for when the time comes. It's always good to be prepared. So far as telling your mom goes, if you're uncomfortable just saying that you got your period, you might drop a (major) hint and say something to the extent of, "Oh, by the way, next time you go grocery shopping, could you pick me up a package of maxi pads? Thanks!" She'll get the picture, and she'll probably be really excited for you too!

believe me u'll know when u get it!!
lol
its not as awkward as u might think but just tell her u need pads!

when I got my first period, I was with my cousins, away form my mom by myself so when I got off the plane back to my city, we went straight out to eat with my friends family. I just quickly whispered in her ear 'I got my period!'. It feels weird when you walk. Like, your underwear is wet. Hope this helps !!

Dont feel akward when you talk with your mom about girl stuff. If you are of an age when you think your period is going to start tell mom you are going to need some pads and keep one in your back pack in case you need it. You may get some pain or discomfort just before your period, you may not. The first thing you may notice is blood in your panties. Dont panic, it happens to all girls, and mom will understand

if you are really close with your mom it will probably be easy to tell her. i'm not very close with my mom, so i was terrified when i got my first period. all i said was "guess what?". after she guessed about 20 times she finally got it. it was uncomfortable but you have to get it over with.

and your first period shouldn't feel like anything. i wouldn't have even been able to tell i had it if i didn't notice the couple drops of blood in my underwear.

don't be scared to get your period. i know i was, but when it happens it's not that big of a deal. good luck:)
