I am 47 and in the menopause?!


Question: its 7 months since i had a period how would I find out if I am still ovulating? and is there any obvious signs that I am.? I am told that I can still get pregnant even though I am not having a period

Theoretically the post menopausal state has not been reached until 1 year ( some authorities say 2 years,) without a period. The average age for the menopause is a bit older than your 47 years, now calculated to be 53years.

You could get your GP to check your gonadotrophin levels, but they can be misleading.

The guide has always been to wait two years before you're 50 or one year after you're 50 to give up on contraception.

You need to go to your doctor's, and they will do a blood test.
