Tingling in left arm from glyburide(sp)?!

Question: My wife is pregnant and recently stated taking glyburide. she's had some swelling in her hands and this morning hes whole left arm is tingling. Her sugar was an 85 when she woke up. She took the med with a breakfast of a single sausage patty and a hashbrown (water to drink) from McD's. She's trying to balance carbs with protein to keep sugar level steady. An hour later it was 153. What's going on? Is this normal? Is she having an adverse reaction? Thanks to all serious responses!?

Oh, geez Dirt please get her back to her physician as soon as you can my little mate ?

Tingling and prickling and numbing sensations in the outer extremities such as hands and feet, arms and legs could be a side affect of the meds she is on ......... more than likely though, you have nothing to worry about and these meds are probably responsible for robbing her of her precious B complex of vitamins mate ~ tingling and prickling and numbing sensations in the outer extremities such as hands and feet, arms and legs are symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency also ? Just get her to her Doc as soon as you can cos the swelling definitely needs to be attended to ?

The B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy neural, immune and digestive functioning and are a water soluble group. As such our bodies can neither produce them or store them and we need to ingest them on a daily basis or suffer from the side affects.

Get her to take a good quality multi B complex supplement ~ get one including all the B's ie ~ B1,B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folic acid etc.....as they all work best as a group.... don't buy any of the B complex of vitamins individually but rather as a whole group, unless her physician or a naturopath tells you to do so.

Get her to eat more foods rich in vitamin B12 (as a deficiency of same will produce the numbing and tingling she's experiencing ie ~ lean meats, skimmed milks and dairy (if she can tolerate dairy), eggs and fish.

A deficiency in vitamin B12 will also produce symptoms such as fatigue an exhaustion, headaches and migraines, dizzy spells, fainting and loss of balance, heart palpitations and chest pains, excessive sweating, depression, insomnia and constipation, irritability and moodiness and an inability to think clearly ....B6 deficiency will cause ~ excessive urination and dry mouth, night muscle spasms, leg cramps, nausea and vomiting, Quite scary actually if you don't realise the vitamin factor.

Vitamin B6 is essential for the effective assimilation of B12 ~ eat more foods rich in vitamin B6 ie ~ liver, fish, cantalope, cabbage, blackstrap molasses, oats, eggs, roasted peanuts, wheat bran, wheat germ and unmilled rice.

If she is lactose intolerant or vegetarian then it is really important that she supplement her diet with a multi B complex tablet on a daily basis and focus on meat free iron rich sources

Other things that could also be robbing her of her precious B complex of vitamins are :- eating too much protein, alcohol, eating too much tinned food, laxatives, diuretics, antiobiotics, antidepressants, penicillin, prednisone and aspirin and otc cold and flu medicines.

Also, get her to try to cut back on drinks such as caffeine, tea, sodas and soft drinks as they are all B complex thieves........ as well as being great at dehydrating you.

When she taks your daily B complex supplement bear in mind that B12 also needs calcium and vitamin D for effective assimilation ~ cold water fishes such as salmon and tuna are rich in both ........ leafy and green vegies, tofu, dried beans and tofu are all good sources of calcium too..... getting enough vitamin D daily can be as easy as 10 - 15 minutes of safe sun exposure, vitamin D is known as the sunshine vitamin....?

Quite a handfull of information here ........ sorry it's a bit long winded but you need to know all this.

When our bodies are placed under added stress such as pregnancy, relationship dramas, illness, new job, school studies or just daily life really, the B complex of vitamins are usually the first group to get used up and we therefore need to adjust our intake accordingly.

When you are getting any stress related symptoms or any of the above mentioned symptoms simply take another B tablet. As they are water soluble our bodies will simply excrete any excess in our urine.

Drink loads of fresh filtered water too as the happiest and healthiest body will always be the most hydrated one.

I sincerely wish you & your lovely wife the best of health & vitality buddy?

peace & light 2 u ?
