What are the implications of putting my Nuvaring in the day after my period ende!

Question: Normally I would put the ring in on the Sunday of my period, but it ended yesterday and I forgot to put the ring in so I'd like to put it in tonight.

Will that reduce the effectiveness? Will I have to wait 7 days to not use a back-up method (I was not on the ring last month)?

Thanks!

The directions for starting the ring say that you should put the ring in within five days of starting your period. If today is within the five days then you just have to use a backup method for 7 days. If today is outside that 5 days, you can still put the ring in, but you should use a backup method for this entire cycle. And make sure to take your ring out and put a new one in based on a Monday start rather than a Sunday start. If you want to get back into a Sunday start cycle, you'll have to take your ring out on Monday but then put a new one in the next Sunday rather than waiting until Monday.
