I had the same problem too! You do not take it out when you pee because you put it in some other hole then the hole the pee comes out(may sound weird but true). change it every 4-8 hours. it shouldn't hurt putting it in. Here are some tips:

First of all you need to relax, if you dont relax you may become more tense and it may be harder to insert the tampon. Now sit or stand in a comfortable position. Some woman squat, put one leg on the toilet, or lay down knees bent, and some just do it while sitting on a toilet. Once you find the comfortable position, hold the tampon with the fingers you write with. Hold the middle of the tampon, at the spot where the smaller, inner tube inserts into the larger, outer tube. Make sure the string is visible and pointed away from your body. Next, with your other hand hold open the labia, the folds of skin around your vaginal opening and position the tampon near the vaginal opening. Tilt the tampon up to the small of your back. Insert the tampon, slowly, stop when your fingers are touching your body, and the applicator is completely inside of the vagina. Once the applicator or outer tube is inside of you, use your index finger to push the inner tube (the tube where the removal string is visible) through the outer tube. This pushes the tampon into the vagina. Once the inner tube is all the way in, use your thumb and middle finger to remove the applicator or outer tube. ake sure that the string hangs outside of the vaginal opening. Later, when you are ready to remove the tampon, hold the string and gently pull it downward until the entire tampon is out. Go to http://www.youngwomenshealth.org/tampon.... to see pictures on it (don't worry its animated). If it was inserted right, you shouldn't feel it, if you do try again with a new tampon.

I started using tampons when I was 13 I'm 21 now and I would never go back to pads lol. But yea, i don't want to scare you but I could not get in in at all the first couple of tries and I remeber it really hurting. You just got to keep trying but if it really hurts, don't try to force it just try agin next time. And as for peeing, you don't urinate through your vagina so no you don't need to take it out when you pee

i have the same probem, but i am 14! i dont know what it feels like, but i do know that u dont have to take them out when u pee and u should change it every 4-8 hours. please help me with my question! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Go for it hun!

Now, to insert a tampon with no pain, put a mirror between your legs, and poke the tampon diagonally, ALMOST towards your back! Never straight up..!

Chnage it every 4-6 hours

Once they are in, you can't feel them, although first time may hurt or b idfficult, but there is a first time for everything! :)

I personally think tampons are far more comfortable than pads! They usually don't hurt to put in unless yuo have it in at the wrong angle! I suggest a teen brand that has aslimmer applicator! No you don't need to take them out to pee, and it shouldn't hurt to pee! And you change them whenever you feel you need to. Most people can go about 5-6 hours.... if yu are changing them more try a larger absorbency! Good Luck! Talk to your mom or motherly figure too she can help you out!

prop your leg up like on the toilet seat or something, take a deep breath and just slide it in as you let your breath out. that way the muscles in your vagine arent contracting. make sure your as relaxed as possible because the more you contract those muscles the harder its gonna be to get it in. they are very comfortable. you forget they are even there. you dont have to take them out when you pee. although the string does get wet so if your gonna take it out right after you pee i always use toilet paper to pull the string. if you take it out dry it will hurt but just do the same thing taking out as putting in, take a deep breath and relax.

good luck :]

Im 16
i've used tampons for like 5 months now
no u dont have to take it out wen u pee..just hold the lil string to the side while u pee..
u can bathe and swim while using a tampon
u shouldnt leave the tampon in for more than 8 hours
and it depends how ur flow is
all u have to do is tug on it and if its uncomfortable to take out then the tampon isn't soaked fully yet
and if it comes out with out discomfort then the tampons ready
but u can change wen ever u want as long as u dont keep it in for longer than 6-8 hours
wen u put it in u have to relax
breath and relax your muscles
i personally think theyr comfortable because u dont feel em!
just wear a pantyliner in case of leaks
and wen u buy tampons thiers always a paper inside the box that tells u what u need to kno =]
and it helps first timers as well
just buy a box and read the paper
its easy....
i hope this helped =]

First off, there are dozens and dozens of tampon brands; personally, I like the tampax pearl brand. Depending on how heavy your flow is you could probably start with the "light day" version just to let your body used to them. The tampax pearl ones come in a purple box I believe?

Before you insert a tampon, unwrap it and pull on the string that's attached (you wouldn't want that coming off!) to make sure it's tied well.

To insert a tampon (be sure you're actually on your period) either sit on the toilet with your legs apart or you can be standing with one foot on the toilet seat. Use your thumb and middle finger to hold the applicator and use your forefinger to hold the part where the string comes out. Insert it until your fingers touch your body and then use your forefinger to push in the tampon itself (aim towards your lower back if that makes any sense). Pull out the applicator and throw it away. The string's there so you can pull the tampon out when it's all used up.

They shouldn't hurt going in; it might feel a little weird, but it shouldn't hurt. If you can feel it up there, then you probably didn't insert it deep enough. Honestly, it took me a good 12 times to get it just right so just keep at it.

No, you don't have to take a tampon out when you pee, but I usually change tampons when I use the restroom regardless. You can leave a tampon in for about 4 - 6 hours give or take or until it starts leaking.

You'll do just fine! Best of luck to you!

I am 18 years old and just recently started using tampons. I think it is a personal preference. I hated tampons when my mother forced me to use one in high school, I felt violated and it was uncomfortable. They became much easier to use after I had sex, but I am not advocating having sex before using tampons.

Just find a tampon that is small and compact but offers the absorption you need, this would depend on how heavy your period is. Regular if it is average, heavy if it is like a flood. You do not have to take them out when you pee and you should change them every 4-6 hours. You should wear a pantyliner pad in your underwear to prevent leaks, because sometimes they happen. It should be comfortable if you put it in right, most times I barely notice mine. Initially you will notice there is something in there, however because it is a new foreign object in your vagina, but it should never hurt. If it hurts take it out immediately and put in a new one, or none at all. It should never hurt.

I will assume you are a virgin. Since you haven't had sex, you might feel a little discomfort when you pull it out. This is because the tampon swells bigger with the amount of blood it takes in, so it will stretch your vaginal opening a little further than you are used to and cause a little discomfort.

Using tampons will not take away your virginity either. Tampons do not get nearly big enough to totally obliterate your hymen. So don't worry about that.

Overall, I think tampons are more sanitary and user friendly, so go ahead and experiment with them. Tampons are not for everyone, so if you don't like them, don't worry. There are plenty of alternative options for you out there. If you want a more comfortable and earth friendly option in the realm of pads you can google search Party In My Pants. They are very eco-friendly and very soft on the vagina. Hope this helps!

Start with the smaller size (regular vs super). I prefer Playtex with the plastic applicator over Tampax with the cardboard. They are easier to put it.
