Should I go back to the gyn?!

Question: Last month I went to the gyn because I never had a pap smear done (am 20) and my periods are irregular, extremely painful, and extremely heavy. Also I do not get them every single month. I am not sexually active. Well she diagonised me with PCOS.

For those that do not know PCOS is...

Polycystic (pah-lee-SIS-tik) ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a health problem that can affect a woman's menstrual cycle, ability to have children, hormones, heart, blood vessels, and appearance. With PCOS, women typically have:

* high levels of androgens (AN-druh-junz). These are sometimes called male hormones, although females also make them.
* missed or irregular periods
* many small cysts (sists) in their ovaries. Cysts are fluid-filled sacs.

Looks you are well informed about your problems and you most probably know that pills should be effective for your case but it will take some time. Your body should "understand" what exactly pills "want". For now pills are reducing your hormones (including testosterone) and reducing numbers of many follicles produced usually during PCOS. I would recommend you wait and see full reaction of your body and hormones. Just remember - if you miss even one pill - it would be very difficult to understand anything because cycle will be messed.

I suggest seriously don't wait.. this seems to have a lot of negative side effects.. Frankly I don't understand why you were prescribed a birth control pill anyhow...Don't wait until 3 months are over.. I would discuss with this doctor what the birth control is actually supposed to be good for in your case.. and don't let the pain get master of you... see the doctor and don't suffer in silence...

Good luck xx

I think that you should call and see if this is one of the side effects is if your period will get worst before things get better.
