How can girls be better educated about sex?!
Question: My mom didnt teach me anything about sex but even at 13 (yes 13) I was so annoyed with girls who were having sex and didnt know anything about it so before I had sex I decided to learn everything about it : how to prevent pregnancy and STDs. I taught myself all about birth control methods human anatomy and abortion and I have never been pregnant or had a disease. I am 23. I taught my sisters as much as I could but both of them have children one of them has had several diseases and 2 abortions. They are both under 22. How can we better educate young girls so they can avoid these things? What couldve helped you when you were younger?

They do educate young women in health class. I payed attention and I am like you...no kid, abortions, diseases. But I think sometimes girls would rather pretend it can't happen to them because it makes it easier for them.
The only thing that might help is teaching kids at an earlier age. Like 10 or so. BEFORE they hit puberty and it's too late.
I am 21 and my mom didn't speak to me about sex either. I learned about sex from health classes in school starting from the age of 10. I think that there should be health education classes starting in the elementary schools because kids are having sex at an early age now. Also parents need to be more involved and not act like sex is evil because once you start to act like that then kids are going to want to know why it is evil. Sex ed should be mandatory, to teach kids to absentee from sex, how to protect them selves from getting pregnant, STDs etc
...hmmm its a bit hard 2 answer this ques..girls r loosers wen it comes 2 sex but we can avoid it if we intensionally make ourselves reference able and updated bout this issue..hope this 1 helps..
wow, that's cool. i wish more people (guys and girls) would take that initiative (to learn more) one thing that i would say would be take them to the shelters (you know where there are women that have gone through that) and let them spend a day with them because many times we hear our parents and say 'yeah, yeah, that was back in your day, you don't know how it is now' but the fact is the our parents (or in your case you the older sister) were right, and we see that later on, sometimes a little too late. so i would say to have the young girls visit with them (the ones that are already there) and hopefully they'll learn.

Abstinence based sex education needs to be abolished and replaced with comprehesive sex education, and this education needs to start at a young age - like 4th or 5th grade.
You were motivated to learn. If a girl isn't motivated to learn, a teacher can talk at them all day long about sex and pregnancy, and it will just go in one ear and out the other.
You can tell them the facts, but you can't make them want to believe them. If the girls decide they want to believe their boyfriends when they say they don't have any diseases, that they'll pull out in time, that they can't get a girl pregnant because they smoke too much pot, or that they'll support their children, that's what they'll believe. And if a girl believes having a baby will tie the baby's father to her forever, she'll get pregnant no matter what evidence is placed before her that he won't hang around.
Some people have just got to learn things the hard way.
Personally I think that if girls knew everything that happened to their bodies during pregnancy, childbirth, or abortion, they wouldn't be so quick to have sex. I always found the technical aspects pretty fascinating, but most students are just plain going to fall asleep during it. What can be done? Wish I knew. If they don't want to know about it, they're not going to learn.
