Why am i spotting....?!


Question: i dont remember my last period it was the end of febuary to the begining of march sometime, i'm still waiting for it. but i just checked and there was spots of pinkish and a very little amount this has never happened with me before what do you think it is? i did take a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative.

I would give it a few more days and see if your period comes down. If not try to retake a pregnancy test. Also if the spotting continues and you don't get your period I would go see a gyno asap.

well if your on birth control it could be a side effect

Spotting can have two main causes:

1. Ovulation spotting. When you ovulate, the egg literally "bursts" from the ovary, causing some bleeding.
2. Implantation spotting. When a fertilized egg implants, it causes some trauma to the uterine lining, causing some bleeding.

Regarding urine pregnancy tests, most of them are effective about 14 days after a fertilized egg implants, or about 8-10 days after a missed period. Since you're not sure when your period is due, this may not be that helpful. You may want to wait another week and take another pregnancy test.

Some women never have a positive urine test for pregnancy; they simply don't excrete enough HCG for the test to detect it. It looks like you've had a previous pregnancy, so you may already know if you're one of those non-HCG excreters.
