Breast reduction surgery. Can someone who has had it tell me about it, what to e!

Question: I have wanted this for many years and have maor back, neck, and shoulder pain. This has gone on for so long that it is even hard for me to sit up straight, which is not good. I finally have insurance that is paying for all of it so i decided to get it done right away. I am just wanting to know more about what to expect afterwards from those who have had this surgery. Please, serious answers only.

I have one of the best surgeons in town doing this procedure in late May. I was wondering what to expect afterwards. How much pain is there? How long do the drain tubes stay in? How long is there swelling? Was the surgery worth all the pain and swelling? How long were you on pain meds for the pain afterwards?

Thanks for all of your answers.

I had mine reduced Feb 2006, 38J to 38C. I don't regret it one bit and would do it again if I had to!

I have a huge "surgery story" if you send me your email I'll send it to you.

Please check out this site, it helped me out TONS before and after my surgery!

As for your questions, I was in NO PAIN after surgery, I had NO drains to worry about, and the swelling and bruising are nothing much to worry about. I took some Arnica Montana pills I bought on Amazon and many girls said my bruising and swelling went away quicker than theirs did!

The scarring is also not bad at all. DO NOT put them into the sun, not even under a swimsuit until they turn white or they will turn permanently red! Use Mederma and Scarguard after your incisions are fully fully closed.

Well let me first start out by saying you are very lucky to have an insurance company that is willing to pay for it. I was 16 when i had a brest reduction surgery. I had the same symptoms, ( the back, neck, and shoulder pain). My insurance company said that it was for cosmetic purposes when really it wasnt. the pain was so unbarriable that i had to do the surgery if not down the line i would have really bad damage to my spine. i had already started developing minor scholeosis on my lower back. I am now 20 years old and i tell myself everyday that it was the best thing i could do for my self. Now for what you will feel after the surgery you will feel pain for the first few days. it should subside within a few days..you will not be able to sleep on your sides for the time that the stitches are in. you will not be able to lift up your arms. sounds like it sucks but you will get used to it. Unfortunetly i dont scar well and i developed something called keloids. these are like thick inflated scars. that is one of the main risks that you run. another thing is that once your scars heal, you will unfortunetly not have as much feeling or sensation on or around the areola area as you did before you will have some feeling but not much. All i can tell you is good luck and hang in there. Just keep saying to yourself the results are defenitly worth it.!!!
