How long is it normal to bleed while on the depo-provera shot?!
Question: I got my first shot about a year ago and i have been continuously spotting or just straight up bleeding since I got it. The doctor told me that its normal, but i find that hard to believe. Bleeding for a year non stop is not normal. I don't know if i should use another method of birth control, or if this really is normal and its okay for me to continue using depo. Has anyone had a similar experience? I go for my next shot next week, so any help at all (asap) would be great!

Actually, it is normal. The depo shot affects people differently. A friend of mine had her period 3 weeks at a time when she was on it. It really affected my cousin's personality and made her snap at people for asking the most simple questions. It's made my period stop completely. I would suggest trying another form of birth control. There are certain brands of pills out there that can make periods shorter and less intense. You could also try the patch. Good luck!
It depends on the person, when I am on depo I stop bleeding for a year, but i have friends that bleed for as long as they are on it no matter how long they are on it
it is normal! i was on the depo-shot for almost a yr. before i stopped spotting. I got off the shot for about two years and 2day acctually, i will be getting it again. dont worry because sooner or later you might not bleed at all, just like i did.
The first time I did Depo, I quit getting my period almost right away and didn't get it until I went off the shot 18 months later. The second time I tried Depo, I had bleeding and spotting on and off for almost 6 months, after that I quit using it. It's not worth it! My doctor told me that some women have the bleeding like that forever, and some will finally stop the bleeding after a year. Even when I quit getting the shot the second time it took almost a year to have regular cycles again!
