I had to go on the pill when i was 14 because of heavy and irregular bleeds, if you sit down with your mum and ask her to acompany you to the docs and also explain the reason why u may be surprissed with your mums reaction. you sound like a smart girl so im sure your mum wont think anything like that.

tell her that you want to go on the pill because you periods are annoying you.
xx : )

im sure your mum will understand if u talk to her about it, the pill is great for regulating your periods! but you could always go the doctor without telling ur mum, its confidential, so the doc wont tell her, and besides, ur old enough to have sex, so surely its sensible anyway, just in case?!

You could start off by speaking with your doctor first about it so that you can have actually medical facts as to why it would benefit you to go on birth control.

With that, I would sit my mom down and let her know that it is driving you crazy having a period that is unpredictible. Let her know that by no means does this give you the idea to go out and start having sex.

Are you having severe cramps with your period? That was one of the main reasons my doctor actually put me on the pill.

They're just irregular. Its very common in teenage years.
Just tell you mum about you periods one day, then the day after act all casual and say, oh mum my friends were telling me that the pill makes your periods regular, its not for sex its strictly for my periods.

It depends when you started your very first one. If it was less than 3 years ago, your body's getting used to them and therefore will behave rather erratically.

If you're fed up of them, see a doctor who can put you on the Pill, should you need it.

I'm 17 and im on the pill because of period problems (they were irregular and very painful) I told my mum and she took me to the doctor to get it prescribed. I dont know how it will work for you but my doctor told me to take it for three months then have a break and so on.

My periods were irregular
So I told my mum about how they were
&& she suggested the pill
Just go to your mum that your periods are irregular && the pill might help it
Your GP will also tell your mum the same thing
=D
SummerAngel__x??

don't go on the pill it has a lot of side affects

that how i was and still am sometimes and I've had my periods for a long time! sometimes they might never settle down into a proper routine everyone is different just give it a few more years. but DONT go on the pill!!

My periods were irregular for years, only in my twenties did they start to settle down. they can be affected by so many different things, like hormones, over exercise, weight loss, stress, alcohol, drugs....

Why not carry a spare pair of pants and tampons in your bag in case you get caught out - that way you don't have to worry too much about it.

If you decide to try the pill - I'm sure your mum would understand as she has probably been through the same thing herself.

Also, there are mini-pills (with only one hormone) which can be used specifically for this purpose and are not recommended as contraceptive pills so this would prove to your mum why you're using it (or maybe just worry her more :-))

I took my daughter to the docs to go on the pill when she was 15 because I couldn't stand to watch her every month is so much pain. Unlike you she has regular periods but is so ill for the first couple of days, throwing up and writhing on the floor in pain.
You don't have to tell your mum, you are nearly 17 and have every right to go on the pill, if she finds out and hits the roof tell her that's the reason you didn't want to tell her!!

Have your mom take you to the doctor and the doctor will tell her that himself! The pill does wonders for your situation.

you're still young enough to be irregular so don't worry too much
