Question: Hi, I had my last period around the 24th march, when will my next one be roughly? Because I'm going round a mates house on friday and I want to have fun but I cant if I just start my periods. I use heavy pads, not tampons, i'm 14,and last time i went round her house blood came through my grey skinny jeans even though had a pad supporting it, please help me, when will they start roughly?! I'm so embarrased! Help

Well, the "average" cycle is 28 days, which means if you count 28 days (which is 4 weeks) from the FIRST day that you got your last period, you should know when you're next one is coming. If that's true for you, and March 24th was the FIRST day of your last period, your next one should come on April 21st.

However, this cycle length can vary quite a bit, *especially* when you're young. How long have you been having periods for? The best thing you can do is to start keeping track of your periods on a calendar, and find out how long your cycle is - then you can know for sure! Also - the good news is that, eventually, your periods will probably get lighter (hooray!).

Even still, the shortest cycles are normally around 21 days, which would be April 14 - next Monday. You should be in the clear for this Friday! However, it's *always* a good idea to have pads with you in case you need them. You can even wear a slim "panty liner" in your underwear on days when you want a little extra security. It won't be as good as a pad, but hopefully it will help protect your underwear and pants should you get your "friend" unexpectedly.

There are also websites out there, such as www.mymonthlycycles.com, which can help you figure out when to expect your periods (including planning for a few months down the road, which is helpful!).

In arond the 22nd april...But with you being so young dont worry if it's early or late

It depends how long your cycle is. Say your cycle is 28 days then your due on around 22nd?

Every 28 to 31 days. If you are going this Friday you shouldn't have a problem, your period should roughly start at the same time every month and in a perfect world it would, it could be a few days before or a few days after your last period.

You should be fine this weekend. At your age, periods are not always predictable.Probably the 4th weekof April. Always carry a heavy pad in your luggage. Don't be embarrassed, happens to every body.

Around the 22nd but everyones' cycles are different and you will need to track yours for a couple of months until you know for sure how long your cycle is. Don't worry though; every woman has felt the same worries and anxieties as you and in time, it'll all feel much more under control. Keep pads with you and when you feel your period is due (keep note of PMT symptoms such as bloating, feeling extra hungry, emotional, headaches..that will help you predict your periods and also these symptoms never feel so bad when you know what causes them) maybe wear dark trousers until you feel more confident.
