Ok gross but serious questions (women only please)?!

Question: I read somewhere that you should not wash your vagina with soap or anything, to just use water..??? If that is not true, what should you use? Should I use that feminine wash stuff? would that be ok to use during pregnancy? I normally use bar soap or shampoo, is that bad?....also, I have never done it and I never will (just curious) Why do women douche? there is nothing good about it , what are they made for? Just a little confused on why they are even made if they are so bad for you.

If you use soap, just be sure to rinse thoroughly until all of the soap is gone. Soap can really dry out the vaginal area and it will become very uncomfortable and itchy. I either use a mild soap like Dove or Caress or a body wash. You can use a feminine wash like Summer's Eve if you'd like. It should be fine to use during pregnancy but check with your doctor if you're unsure.

Women douche becasue it makes them feel clean. I have never done it before either so I can't speak from expeience, but it's supposed to leave a clean feeling. I really think it makes women feel better, maybe even safer, after having sex with a complete stranger or having a one night stand. But, that's just my opinion. They are bad for you though because they strip the vagina of its moisture and can make it kind of raw if used enough. A lot of things exist that are bad for you. It was a good idea, it just didn't turn out right that's all.

The problem with washing "down there" with soap is that it can cause bladder infections as well as vaginal problems. I use my body wash, though, and am just very careful and do not rub a lot down there and have never had a problem. I think some women douche because it makes them feel "clean" or they think it will help with odor. But, yes, it is not good to douche.

They are not bad for you if used in moderation (once a month or less). I don't think you should douche during pregnancy, but check with your doctor to be sure.
If you are talking about washing the exterior, mild soap or feminine wash is fine. I like Summer's Eve for sensitive skin... never had any problems and I use it every day.

i just gently wash my labia with mild soap like dove when im in the shower.

Sure you can wash, everywhere. Just don't scrub like you would a potato. As for douching. That is a matter of personal choice. I would not recommend doing it very often. Read on the box and it should give you the specifies. But I don't think you should while you are pregnant. Check with your doctor or nurse.

This is what I found about douching while pregnant:

Don't douche. Douching could force air into the vagina, which can cause an air embolism. The vagina doesn't require cleansing in addition to normal bathing. Douching disrupts the helpful bacteria that keep the vagina clean.

i personally like feminine wash. soap tends to irritate.if you douche you are washing away the beneficial bacteria in your vagina. easy to get yeast infections from douching.

Summer's eve has a whole line dedicated to washing down there and douching.

here is there product website

I've used Summer's Eve for sensitive skin everyday since I was 12 (now 14) and my mother has used it...hold on, lemme do the math...maybe about 20 or so years, and neither of us has had a problem. It may just depend on who you are and the way your body reacts to certain soaps.

Mild antibacterial soap is good to wash the vaginal area. The reason they say not to use soap "down there" is because you should avoid getting the soap inside of your vagina. douching is for a cleansing of the female vagina. It makes some women feel fresh and smell fresh. Douching should only be done once a year, not once a month. If you produce a foul smell which needs douching more than once a year, you need to seek medical advice. Douche is basically vinegar and water (with other fragrances for some types). These are substances that are not harmful to the body but should only be used, if needed, once in a 12 month period.

It's not good to use bar soap or any sort of soap really on your vagina. I have been suffering from Dermatitis "down there" for a year (only just been diagnosed), and I imagine it's because I use soap. It's a very common problem for women because it's such a sensitive area, soap can aggrivate it quite badly. Better to just use water. If you really do want to use some sort of soap then I would suggest going to the pharmacy and asking for non-irritating soap, you probably don't have to say what for. Failing that, mention it to your doctor next time you see him/her

You can use soap but you should make sure it's very mild and unscented (like Ivory). Scents are never a good idea down there because they can cause itching and irritation (that's why scented pads and tampons are not recommended). There's no reason to buy feminine wash, just use a mild soap and wash gently.

Douching is archaic and outdated. It's terrible to do as it upsets the natural balance of flora in the vagina and can lead to infections. Women who use them have usually been taught that vaginas and periods are dirty, a holdover idea from decades ago that just refuses to die!

douching isnt good, only one a month after your period is alright.
as for soap, its ok, just dont scrub like your a vegi.
be careful and rinse very well. or use vagisil.
its soap free feminine wash
