First of all, the doctor will perform a pelvic exam. Note that there should be a nurse present with you at all times, for your safety and security. They will insert a speculum so that the doctor can clearly see your cervix, and they will take a Pap smear to ensure you do not have any abnormal cells. Sometimes, the exam is uncomfortable, but it doesn't typically hurt. They will ask you for your sexual history (amount of partners, etc.), and check you for STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections).

The important thing to do is relax. Bring a friend if you can with you just for moral support. Also, the link below describes in detail what to expect. Good luck and good health.

It's not free, or at least it wasn't for me. It's not hellaciously expensive, though.

They'll talk with you about your sexual history, any symptoms or discomfort you may have, any concerns, etc., and what you want/expect from your BC.

You'll have a pelvic exam, which frankly, sucks. You'll also have a breast exam. They will take a sample from your pelvic exam, and use it to do a pap smear test. You will get the results from this later.

They will likely to a PAP smear to make sure you don't have pre-cancerous cells on your cervix. Every woman should get this done annually anyways, as cervical cancer is one of the easiest cancers to treat if caught early.

You might feel a slight pinch. For more information on the procedure, check the link. :]

They will probably also perform and show you how to do a breast exam, as well as insuring that you are practicing safe sex techniques.

Well you will probably be given a pap smear (this is where the check the cells of your cervix for any abnormalities). It is not the most comfortable procedure but it is done quickly. You will put your legs in stirrups, the doctor will then insert a speculum and collect the cells and bam it is over.. I was nervous my first time but it is really not that bad at all.... try not to worry. I think PP services are free if you are under 18 or 19. You will have to fill out paper work, it will ask about your medical history, sexual history etc... (P.S do not lie about your sexual history there is nothing to be embarrassed about) You want the best care possible, you know... Good luck with everything.
