Question about hormonal acne??!

Question: I'm 19 years old. Since the age of 12 my skin has had mild to severe acne at times. When I was 15, I was going to be put on Accutane so I was given birth control to take for a month. (I'm a virgin and will remain one till marriage so I don't need in order to not get preggers) When I went back to the doctor he said I no longer needed Accutane because of the progress my face had made on the birth control. I was so happy about this. I took the birth control up until last year. I quit because I feared its in some way harming me because it isn't natural and thought maybe my acne wouldn't come back. Well it did a few months later, but not as bad as before. So I'm pretty sure my acne is due to hormones, right? Is it a hormone irregularity that causes it or is it just normal hormones? If it is a hormone irregularity does that mean I have to be on birth control because the hormones are dangerous??? Please give as much detail as possible. Thanks!

Your acne is definitely hormones-related. Irregularity? Maybe no. See how long your face will stay clear after the birth control pills, if it returns to being bad again, your best bet might just be birth control pills.

Do not view birth control pills as something unnatural, since it really is natural - it simply controls your hormones, especially if you need it. And yes, many do take it because of their acne problem.

Once you get older, your hormones should balance out a little bit and if you try to get off the pills, you may have very less or very little acne (I rarely meet anyone with no acne AT ALL). Again, see how long you can last without the pills, hopefully you won't have to rely on the pills anymore.

Also, your hormones are not dangerous, it's simply causing you to have more acne than most people. So don't panic.

Have you also tried facial products that might help?

p.s. your body will go back to its original hormones level as soon as you stop taking the pills.

Acne is an inflammation of the pores, so it makes sense that anywhere on the body where there are a lot of pores, there is a chance of developing pimples.Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne .
