My period has changed! I am on the Pill. Is this normal?!

Question: I have been on the Pill for 11 years. I used to use the same brand when I lived in Canada, but I have been out of the country for two-and-a-half years and started a new brand then. I have been using that same brand the whole time, but recently my period went from four days (or so) to five days (last month) and now I am on Day 6 and it's still going!

Also, this is a little gross, but I often see some mucus after my period is over for a few days. That's new, too.

Is it normal for things to just change sometimes? I am 29.

The gynecologists on this side of the world are really judgmental towards women who do not want to get pregnant for selfish reasons, as I discovered when I went for my vaginal exam last fall, and I don't really feel comfortable talking to them.

Thats normal, chemicals even after a couple of years can change it. It can also be other chemicals inside your body, or the woman you hang out with, your body is just responding to chemicals in the air and in your body. Dont worry, you'll be fine.

Yes because thats what it does. It will change your period and protect you from getting pregnant (99.9%) of the time.

No its very normal, maybe the change of pill just gave U some excess bleeding this month, next month U will be all fine..

I made the decision to start the pill because my period was so unpredictable. I would skip months at a time until it showed up again with a vengence & lasting 14 days with clots practically shooting out ;D

It's totally normal for it to change your cycle which was the reason I started taking it at all. It's supposed to make it more steady & easier to manage. My doctor informed me that it should make it lighter & shorter though, so you may want to go to a regular doctor in avoiding the gynocologist.

Good luck!

yes,all that is normal.Periods change as the body changes. You are on day six, that could just be a side effect of the pill. The mucus is also normal,as you grow older you will begin to notice some changes with the way the periods come.If the priod persists, you can go and see a doctor and she ll prescribe something to stop the flow.

many of the answers here are useful and right and i agree with them since, soon enough i may have to go on the pill because my periods have been irregular lately. yes, it is normal for your periods to change. it happens.
