I've skipped 3 periods...?!

Question: and I don't know why. I play softball, I am a cheerleader, and I go to a local gym. School has had me a little stressed out. I'm positive I'm not pregnant. I just got birth control today and I was told not to start taking it until I have my period, but what if I keep skipping ? I told the doctor today that i occasionally skip my periods and she acted like it was no big deal.. I really don't know what to do..

i got my period when i was 11 and now i am 16 and just this year i started to get regular periods. i would go sometimes 3 months without having one. my doctor said the same thing. so you might just have to wait it out.

wait another month. if you skip another, your pregnant.

No big deal. If you go awhile without one. They will give you hormone pills to take for seven days then you will start your period and you can start taking you bc pills

if you had sex well then you know what is up

How old are you? Did you just start your period? All that activity can cause you to skip periods. If you're not sexually active don't worry about it you only really need 4 periods a year (that's why a woman is only pregnant for 9 months and not longer - food for thought)

just cause you've taken birth control doesn't mean you can't get pregnant...

It could be your age...you could have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome...you could be underweight (having too little fat can cause your cycle to stop). After skipping 3 periods, you need to see another doctor. Call around to see if there is someone in your area that specializes in infertility. I know you're not trying to get pregnant, but trust me-a fertility specialist will most likely be the best route to getting to the bottom of your issue...they deal with missed periods every day.
