What can a doctor do for depression? And...?!

Question: when do you know it's time to go to the doctor. How do you know it's even depression.... I need help, I cry almost everyday. I've had some big changes in my life occur in the past few years but they cannot be reversed. I'm not old enough to go alone, so the help I get would have to involve my Mom. I'm really confused, I've been trying to just cowgirl up for a couple years but it's not getting any better....

once you identified that you have a problem, then the next step is to see a psychologist. That way you can get your thoughts and emotions out. And upon analysis of your situation they might be able to prescribe some anti depressants to you. Then again, maybe you just need someone to talk to.

Where I live, I've been told that everything is in confidence unless you may harm yourself or another perosn.

Its bad to keep things bottled up inside. Trust me, hun.

I'm not sure what else to say, try posting it in the mental health section. No, you're not "mental" but you have some emotional problems and that fits into head stuff and thats mental stuff..............you're not a freak if you're wondering that. Counsling and therapy are actually pretty beneficial after some time! If you want to be happy, sweetie, then you need to vent to someone, preferably a professional.

the best of luck! :-)

We all have ups and downs in life.. But if you feel that the situations are too much for you too handle, you must seek personal or professional advice. Dont wait too long. Talk to some one.

I suffer from depression too and the best thing that I can recommend is talk to your doctor about it. My Dr. put me on some anti-depressants and they have worked well so far. Also the Dr. may think that you dont need any mdeications and just need some counselling. Counselling is a great tool as it helps relieve your inner fears and tensions. It did wonders for me. I'm sure it will work for you. Also, judging from your age, I think you should talk to your mom/sister/freind/someone you trust about your issues and problems. Communication is the key dear.

Wish you best:)

if you have problems eating sleeping feel unwanted feel like commiting suicide gain weight or lose weight more then likely you are depressed you need to talk to someone p rofessional you say to young to go alone try a school nurse counselor at school or even your priest but you should go as soon as possible to talk to somebody and yes they do have different kinds of medications for you but only your doctor can deceide what kind would help you because different kind work on different people and your doctor could adjust the dosage or change the kind to a different brand but please talk to someone very soon rick

Yes a doctor can help. Asking for help is a very good start. If at all possible you should talk to your mom about it.
If it doesn't seem to be getting better to you, then I think you should see a doctor about it. I'm sure you would like to feel happy, and not cry every day. So I say, do what you can to feel better. Best of luck to you.

Do you believe in God? I remeber when I was going through that phaze, I was sexually malested at fourteen and didn't understand why it happend to me? However, I started reconnecting my relationship with God and I promise you, I never been so happire and complete in my life! I started going to this really great church and unde4rstood that God is what I was missing! Going to a Christian counselor is great, but a direct relatioship with God will make you feel whole. Just try opening up and once you tell God all your problems , you will see the change in your life!

Sweetheart, if you're stong enough & smart enough to realize & admit that you need help, then it's time to go get it. Realizing there's a problem is the BIGGEST step in fixing it. I admire you for that. I don't know you, nor do I know your mom, but as a mom myself I feel that she'd be more than willing to listen to you & to assist you in getting the professional help you're asking for. However, if you, for whatever reason, don't feel you can confide in your mom, then there are other options for getting help. If you're in school go talk to the school counselor, talk to a church pastor, either of them should be able to direct you in the right place. There's a couple of links listed below that might be of help to you.

If you've had suicidal thoughts please call this number NOW 1-800-784-2433 (1-800-SUICIDE).

I wish you the best, from the sounds of it you've hurt & suffered alot. Please, call the number, or click one of the sites below...find someone to talk to that you can trust. Even if it's a stranger, I've learned that it's sometimes easier to talk to a stranger than to your best friend.

You do sound acutely depressed. Best combination is probably anti-depressants along with behavior-based therapy; physical exercise is also very beneficial.
