Shaving down there.?!

Question: Hey ladies,Ive been keeping my self pretty trimmed and clean down there, but i was thinking about starting to shave just a bit of the sides down there so i would still have some hair down the middle or so. I read shaving all could be a bad thing cause of bacteria or whatever and personally im not a fan of the whole naked look down there. so what should i do? waxing is a option but i really cant take that pain. how would i have to shave it?.how to do it without preventing ingrown, what would i use afterwards and so on. thanks alot.

and seriously. no immature answers.

It's best to soak in the tub for a while before shaving...the hair will be less coarse when you shave it. Always use shaving cream (use a brand with added moisturizer if possible), and shave in the direction of hair growth (down) to prevent ingrowns. Always use a new, sharp razor, and don't shave over the same area lots of times. Wait until the hair is about 1/4" long to shave (don't shave this area every day, it will be more easily irratated.) There are lots of no-bump products to make your bikini line smooth, you can find them in the hair removal isle of a grocery or drugstore. Usually, you use them after shaving to prevent bumps. After shaving, I usually apply a mild moisturizing lotion to the area to keep it smooth. It also helps if you first exfoliate the area with a mild salt scrub, this keeps things softer.

I use a hair remover cream for sensitive skin, leave it on for half the time. Be sure to shower to get it off, and use a loofah gently to remove excess hairs so you won't have any ingrowns. Works like a charm for me everytime. I also use a mild skin cream to keep "it" smooth. lol

There's not much you can do to prevent ingrown hair etc. Not to mention, the hair that you do shave will (unfortunately) grow back twice as thick and twice as dark.

I highly recommend you just get waxed. Yes, it's painful, but the long term benefits outweigh the razorblade! Plus, the more you wax, the longer it takes for hair to grow back :D

P.S. About the pain... I have the lowest pain threshold ever and I screamed the first time, but you get used to it.

Good Luck! :)

There is no way to prevent what my friends and I call itchy red bumps. I usually just trim the sides because I also am not a fan of the whole pre puberty look. If you do shave just go at it...lol or you could always get a electric razor. And I was personally told by my doctor that it was good to shave everything. hope this helps.

Bikini Zone's gel is great for razor bumps and ingrowns. Hope this helps!

When I shave "down there", I usually use an electric razor to get the really long hairs trimmed down, then I use a regular razor and lots of shaving cream to get the smoothest shave possible. Just like shaving your legs, you'll want to shave in the opposite direction, however, since the hair "down there" tends to grow in different directions, it's best to shave in all directions in case you miss something.

And to keep the bumps down, find a product for sensitive skin in the shaving aisle at your local store, or even baby powder will help too.
