Can stress make a person really tired?!


Question: physically i just feel weak and i don't feel like doing anything. i'm really stressed out and kind of depressed. i have quite an appetite so i don't think it's cos i'm sick physically. do you think stress has anything to do with it? thanks.

Oh YES, of course stress and depression can make you feel tired and drained! It does that to me too! But there could also be medical reason such as Anemia. Many women get low iron and it will make you very tired. Do you wake up feeling refreshed or sleepy like you haven't slept at all? A lot of people have Sleep Apnea and are not even aware of it. In women it usually is because of a small mouth and recessed chin, so does anyone of complain of you snoring? The best thing to do is see your doctor and get a full check up. And then maybe get a prescription for an antidepressant, no reason to be miserable right? I like Prozac, because it tends to work good on depression and it gives you a little lift of energy if you take it in the morning. Good luck with your fatigue, hope you get help. I am there too! But Prozac is helping a lot!

Oh definitely! Some people get very edgy and can't sleep, others need to sleep more. I am a combination...I can't get to sleep and then when I do, I can't get up again. Try to reduce the stressors in your life. If that's not possible (I was in college, married with a child), talk to your doctor about getting a referral to a counselor or even some medication for anxiety or depression depending on your symptoms and what your doctor recommends. Good luck. I've been there...it gets better.
