Periods keep getting worse?!

Question: I know it's normal to not feel good on your period, but my periods just get worse and worse. I am on Yasmin for my PCOS, and it regulates my period, but each time I get it, it's worse. Usually, they would be light in the beginning, and start to get heavier. Now, they start heavy, and by the third day, they are extremely heavy. My cramps also keep getting worse each month. Motrin used to help them, and now it doesn't even put a dent in them. Right now, I am on my period and am having flu-like symptoms (achiness, chills, etc), but they come and go, so I know it's not the flu. I am also 15, so this is causing me to miss school. Is this normal?

I had this exact same issue but with ortho tricycline lo. Ridiculously heavy periods that lasted forever, so much bloating and crampy that lasted a week before and the whole week they went on. So really in the end I only had one good week a month. I found out that there are two different kinds of synthetic estrogens that can be used in birth control loestrine and progestrine. I suggest talking to a gynocologist or some kind of female health consultant and try a birth control that uses the oposite kind of hormone than the one you are currently taking. That is what I did and now I am so much more happy. Regularity should not come at your comfort and overall sanity:D

Also it will probably be a good idea to get off of Yasmin anywho. I have heard a lot of issues that come as a result of that one, and no that is not normal for a healthy 15 year old female.

Are you on a contraceptive oral pill? This can help dramatically and has certainly helped my daughter who would become ill every month. Taking evening primrose oil or B vitamins can help.
It can also be a sign of thryroid problems. You really should talk to your doctor as he can rule out many problems and offer advice to help your periods become more manageable. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Take Care

you may need to see a gynecologist explain what's happening so a diagnosis can be made to take care of the problem ad, taking to many pain pills isn't good for you see a Doctor ASAP !

I would go back and see your OB/GYN and tell her all of this. You may need to be on a different type of birth control pill if this one is not working for you. Good luck, I hope you find something that works out for you!
