Is it normal to hear a heartbeat on an ultrasound?!

Question: I haven't had a period since february, I had unprotected sex on my most fertile ovulation day. I went in for a vaginal ultrasound today but they wouldn't tell me what was going on. When they did the sound I heard a very clear heartbeat. Is that mine or I am pregnant?

Most likely, it's the flow of blood in your ovaries. That's what they told me when I had one of those kinds of ultrasounds.

Was it on pace with your heartbeat, or was it VERY rapid?

A small fetus will have an incredibly rapid heartbeat.

That was most likely your heartbeat.

You could not have heard a heart beat. You do hear noise but it is not a heart beat.

Why didn't you ask them what was going on at the time? They have no right to 'not tell you what's going on' I don't understand how that can have happened.

I suggest you call them back immediately and clarify it!

You are probably pregnant. you should probably take a test.

The baby's heartbeat would have been very fast (140 beats per minute) compared to yours (70 beats per minute).

Yes, you hear a heartbeat on ultrasound.

You should just take a home pregnancy test to be sure. If you can't afford to buy one there are lots of free clinics i.e. Planned Parenthood, you can call your County Health Department to find one. I'm not sure where you live but you can usually find pregnancy (at home) tests at Dollar Tree, 99 cent stores or any others like that. One bit of advice you will never ever have a false positive!

One if you havent had a period since febuary than you should probably take a pregnancy test. two they use a special tool to hear babys heart beat so you probably just heard your blood flow. Get a 2 pk at home pregnacy test. test with your first morning urine. test again in about a week or so. Clear blue or first response are bopth very good options for pregnancy tests. If you get a negative responce with both pregnancy tests the likliness of you being pregnant are slim and in that case I would go to the doctor to find out why you have missed your period. They may need to start you on a 10 day pill called provera to induce your period.

You can see it but not hear it unless their ultrasound machine is different from the ones I used

You are probably pregnant!
