I'm 13 and i haven't used tampons...details inside....?!

Question: i got my period when i was 10, 3 years ago. since then, i've always used pads. a few months ago, i tried tampons for the second time (mom did it the first time, don't ask) and i completly did it wrong. i was too far forward, and i kept pressing it in and it wouldn't go, -i learned to go further back, stupid me- i totally chaved the inside and i've been scared to try since. any advice? is it retarded that i haven't used tampons regularly yet?

it not retarded that you havent. some girls just dont feel comfortable. but it helps to get it in easy if you stand with one leg propped up on the toilet and take a deep breath. as you let the breath out slide the tampon in that way the muscles of your vagina are relaxed and it slides in easier. do the same thing to take it out. i use tampax pearl. they are the kind ive always used. but they have tampons for younger, beginner girls. you might check those out. but make sure its a plastic applicator. the cardboardo ones are a pain in the butt.

good luck.

:]

It's ok not to use tampons but if you really want to you just have to relax. I have found the easiest way to get one in is to be sitting on the toilet and just letting it slide it. Use ones that are junior or slim with a plastic applicators because those are the easiest to use.

no its not retarded. infact i still sometimes put them in wrong. (sometimes when im in a hurry) The best way to do it I have found would be to squat and try it that way. But if it hurts there is nothing wrong with pads.

tampons has side effect, it must be put it sterile 'coz you may get infections. better used pads....
