I'm almost 15 and still haven't gotten my period... is this normal?!

Question: I've asked this question several months ago and a few people answered saying that they got their period when they were 14. Their only advice was just to wait. Now, however, I'm turning 15 in nine days and Aunt Flo still hasn't made a visit...

I'm almost done growing, height-wise. (I'm 5'6 1/2'', expected to be between 5'7'' and 5'9''.) As far as developing goes, I have all the signs of puberty except for my period. I began developing breasts 2 - 3 years ago. (I'm a 32A and still growing.) My mom got her period at 13. I occasionally get whitish discharge, but not very often.

Any advice? Ways to speed up the process? It's really embarrassing because I'm the last of my friends to develop. My sister's friends, who are all nine or ten years old are beginning to wear bras and all that jazz - it's embarrassing for me!

Okay, you are in exactly the same boat i was in. I am 15 in 8 days, April 20th and i got my period a couple weeks ago..i always wanted it and everyone was like no you dont want it and now i realized they were right all along...i understand why you want it but there is no way to get the curse. You sound like you are about where i was. I am 5'7", i did get a bit of dischange, i am a 32A also. You are just going to have to wait it out. It is okay to not have it yet. I another year you might want to get it checked out. Really active people dont get it. My best friend was a gymnist up until this year and she is the same height and breast growth and hasnt gotten hers and she is a couple months older. My other best friend, also same height and breast growth, was less active and has had hers for awhile. I am a freshman and am not doing a spring sport and did winter cheerleading, a relaxed sport because my coach is horrible and never has practice so since i have slowed down i think thats why i got mine. Don't hesitate, it will all come in time, and like me, wanting it, i know dread it.

Dont worry about those nine and ten year olds...they probably stuff anyway..just kidding but dont let them get to you..you body is your body and no one elses to judge...not everyone grows at the same speed!

Oh yeah and underweight girls tend to get theirs later.

I was always really skinny...I guess the phrase freshman 15 kicked in in high school too...lol

dont worry, hope this helps

there isn't honey no solution but to make you feel better my cousin didn't get her period til she was 21 and that s a fact so you are not alone there will be thousand's of other girls in the same boat as u don't stress over it.

I dont know how much longer it will be, but try not to worry about it too much. my sister didnt get hers till she was 16 . It didnt adversly affect her she has a baby and everything. I know you're at an age when you're all talking about it, but if its embarassing just avoid the topic till it happens im sure its just around the corner.

I got mine about two weeks before I turned 15. I was also a 32A. I'm getting close to turning 16 and I still am, but I just fill out the bra better now. I grew taller right before I got it. Anyways, my point is you're fine. My friend's twin sister has been 16 since August and still no period. I also have another friend whose mom didn't get it until she was 18, so she probably won't either. It is kind of annoying to be a late bloomer and it's like awkward being in high school where everyone already has boobs and yours are growing 'cause it's like everyone knows. I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone is different. If you get to like 17 though and you don't have it definitely talk to the doctor because your mom got it when she was 13.

Well all people are different. My mother started her period at 16 years old. I started at 13. My other sister (a year younger than I) started at age 15. And my youngest just started her period at the age of 13. Seriously. Do not worry. You will be fine. It's quite normal. Enjoy not having it for as long as you can. Trust me the pain is unbearable especially your first time getting it. Don't worry hun. You'll get it when you get it.

Hi girl,

It is normal to not have your period at 15. I wouldn't worry too too much about starting your period. Everybody is different. I started mine early, at 10, and the downside to it is that I stopped growing taller after started my period.

I am in the oldest of 3 girls. My youngest sister even started hers sooner than the middle girl. If you are developing in other areas, and feeling great about yourself (except for Aunt Flo), I would just wait. You will have the next 40 years having your period, why bother starting it now? I wouldn't do anything to speed up the process if I were you. Just think of yourself as special. The middle girl in my family didn't start hers until she was 18!!! She happens to be the tallest in our family.

Having a period is so messy, worrying about leakage and others...

take it easy! it will come!

it is nothin jazzy about having a period. girl dont rush it

don't feel bad. my mom and aunt didnt start till they were 20! seriously! dont worry. and fyi i havent started either so dont feel too bad =]

Ohhh yeah, this is normal, trust me (and everyone else who has answered this before me). If you didn't know, women/girls should usually start their periods between the ages of 9 - 17. But hearing some answers where their moms started in their 20's is surprising, but if it's true, it's true. I started mine when I was 11, and wore a 32A at that time too, but your case is just fine. Besides, I would NOT be worrying about not starting my period right away because having it is so annoying; I'm currently on it right now too. It's such a hassle, so you're okay.

I would go and see a doctor just to make sure that there are no issues.
However, for the most part girl's start at different ages and it isn't unusual to come late like this.

Your lucky sweetie :)

that's how mine was. i got my period a month after i turned 15. don't worry. if you don't get it while you are 15 then you should go to a doctor because something is wrong. for now just wait. if you have a white discharge that is a good sign.
