If my boyfriend and I have sex without a condom when I'm on birth control...!

Question: What are the chances that I will get pregnant? We are both clean, no STDs so that is not what I am worried about.

What happens if I get pregnant on birth control? How will I be able to tell and wouldn't the birth control hurt the fetus?

Not much... as long as your taking it the way your suppost to. My husband and I had sex for 4 yrs without a condom but I was on birth control and never even had a scare. A month after we decided to come off the birth control and get pregnant, I got pregnant, so fertility was definatly not an issue. Now, I'm not saying its ok to have sex without a condom. My husband and I were married so it was ok it I did get pregnant. Theres no definate yes or no anwser because the pill is only 99% effective but there a pretty good chance your fine. If something happens and you think you may be pregnant, take a test as soon as you miss your period and if its positive, stop taking the pill. It wont hurt if you take it for the first few weeks not knowing. Women do it everyday that dont know they are pregnant. Goodluck and if something does happen, that everything happens for a reason.

then there is a 99% chance that you are not preganet

its possible to still get pregnant. you need to take a test and if it comes out positive you need to stop taking birth control, cuz yes it will affect the baby.

The effectiveness of different birth control pills is 95%-97% (if used correctly and regularly). For covering the risk - it is recommended so called "dual protection".

It really depends on the type of birth control you're using. I would suggest using multiple methods birth control in tandem with other methods to be completely safe.

Sterilization:
Male Sterilization 0.15%
Female Sterilization 0.5%
Hormonal Methods:
Implant (Norplant) 0.09%
Hormone Shot (Depo-Provera) 0.3%
Combined Pill (Estrogen/Progestin) 5%
Minipill (Progestin only) 5%
Intrauterine Devices (IUDs):
Copper T 0.8%
Progesterone T 2%
Barrier Methods:
Male Latex Condom1 14%
Diaphragm2 20%

Spermicide: (gel, foam, suppository, film) 26% 6%
Natural Methods:

No Method: 85% 85%

If you have been on the pill for a few months and start your period when your supposed to more than likely you won't. Just don't miss your pill. Take it at the same time everyday. Set your cell phone alarm to remind you or keep your pills with your toothbrush.

If you are on birth control and are taking it EXACTLY as you are supposed to (at the right time, no missed pills, etc), there is very little chance that you will get pregnant. HOWEVER, certain medications can react to birth control, like antibiotics. So I would always check with your gynecologist, pharmacist, or doctor when you start new medications, to make sure they don't interact.

As far as what happens to a fetus while on birth control, I'm not entirely sure. I am fairly sure though that it will NOT hurt the fetus. Birth control works by a number of different factors. It thickens the mucus on the cervix and in uterus itself so an egg will not attach itself.

I'm not sure of your age, but you can always use PlanB if you decide not to use a condom. PlanB is safe enough to take a lot, but it can give side effects. And unlike the rumors about PlanB, PlanB will NOT abort a fetus if you choose to use it; PlanB is basically a large amount of birth control hormones, that prevent an egg from attaching to the uterine wall. But... you have to make sure that you use it within the time frame that you're supposed to take it, or else it's chances of accuracy highly diminish.

If you take the pills on a regular basis then there is very little chance that you will get pregnant. If you do then you will know right away and you will stop taking the pills.

when taken every day as prescribed hormonal bc is 99.7% effective

there is a slight chance you'll be pregnant. but you can be one of them

when on birth control the pill is susposed to kill the sperm if you miss taking that pill then the sperm will join up with your egg...... lets go back to the years after and during the first world war... people did not know how pregnancey started.. but the knowledgeable knew about a device called a bidet it looks like a toilet and you sit on it and it has two valves like a sink... the water comes up lou of the bowl.. if you wash yourself out after sex then nothing this was one of the earliest methods of birth control.. later on people started doushing with a coke a cola.. and that works also.. it is cheaper to have a bidet installed in your bath room then it is to keep paying for birth control pills with the side effects.. there arent any with a bidet.. bedee prouncend its french ok gilermo..

you won't granted you are taking it correctly
