Info on birth control through Planned Parenthood.?!

Question: I am not yet eligible for health benefits at my job, and have come to the end of my birth control pill prescription. I am going to have to have an annual and get a new script, and I have heard that you can go to planned parenthood and do it through them without insurance.
I'm just looking for a little (or a lot) of information on planned parenthood, what I can expect for costs (I'm pretty much living paycheck to paycheck without anything left over) and how the process works.
If someone has other suggestions also I'd be interested in those - but before someone suggests being celibate - no, and thats not helpful, so please don't.
Everyone else - thanks in advance!!!

Planned Parenthood doesn't cost me anything. I get my birth control for free. I'm in the same boat.

You go and see their doctor at the health depo. and they give a pregnacy test to make sure, ask some questions and check you out. They ask what type of BC you want and you get the script for it.

I get mine filled at Wall-mart pharmacy every month. Once you take them the info the first time they keep it in the computer.

You have to go to their doctor. My gyno with them is great. They have all the different choices in BC so you can get what you want, instead of getting stuck with only one choice.

You have to go for a check-up once a year, and get it re-filled. I think it's a great system. I would rather have insurance, but since I cannot right now, it's a great alternative.

Hope this helps!

can you call your current doc and explain the situation-see if they will extend your script a few months until teh insurance kicks in-

if you are using something expensive-ask for soemthing cheaper available in generic from-if they have anything in free samples in the office

Most planned parenthoods offer reductions in cost based on factors like age or income- call and ask them if there's a minimum cost for your income, or if it's just on a donation basis.

Other than that, you pretty much make an appointment, and you should be able to get your bc the same day.

Planned Parenthood offers low cost Birth Control and women's health care. Check online for a Planned Parenthood centre near you. Call them and ask how much an annual physical and Birth Control pills cost. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.
