Is it safe to wear a tampon if you have a UTI and your period...?!

Question: At one point, I had chronic UTI's. My Urologist would tell me it was best to not use tampons if had a UTI at the time of my period as it might possibly cause irritation as the urethra is close to the vaginal opening.

Should be as the tampon as nothing to do with your pee hole.
