Hey:)

Advantages of the pill injection:

-Does not interrupt sex.

-Women do not have to remember to take a pill every day.

-Can be used when you are breastfeeding.

-May protect against cancer of the womb.

-Is not affected by other medications

Disadvantages of the pill injection:

-Does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

-Periods may be irregular or stop altogether.

-Can cause headaches and skin problems.

-Can take a year or more after stopping the injection for regular periods to return.

Here's a website about other contraceptives that you may want to look at:http://www.bbc.co.uk/relationships/sex_a...

The nurse will probably be able to give better advise that is more suited to yourself.

Take care :)

i used the patch you change it weekly found it really easy to use especially with my job i do shifts so it was hard for me to keep taking the pill regular i don't rate the injection too many of my family member have fell pregnant with it.
Take care x

Personaly as a man i cannot give you advise on your question.BUT I have a sister who had the inplant/injection in 1993, She changed from a home loving woman into a homicidal maniac, She became a heavy drinker-bad tempered violent woman. she had the implant/injection taken out in 2000 and straight away one could see the difference the drinking stopped and the bouts of temper tantrums and the violance ceased to be anymore- the down side or good side is that she became pregnant almost immediatly and in 2001 she gave birth to another girl to go with her two other children aged 9 and 13 then they are all 7,16 and 20 this year- so going on my sisters experience i would just keep with the contraceptive pill but then again everyones body metabilism is different and other people may not have the same side effects. so just wait and see what other people have to say about your question. I know what my sister would tell you!.Good luck on your decision and hope that all goes well for you in what ever decision you make.

This is going to be long but WILL help you make your decision.

I was on the injection for 7 years, without periods, it was great! I had no problems downstairs, no cystitis, no thrush, nothing. Then i thought as i hadn't had a period in so long i should give myself a break.......biggest mistake i have made!

Since stopping i had had endless problems, even turns out that i am allergic to condoms now!!! So often i get cystitis when i am about to come on.

I am going to give the pill another couple of months and if it doesn't get any better then I'm going back on the injection.

The only "problem" as such is that it affects women differently. You may have periods, you might not have any or you could have very irregular ones. It can take up to a year to get back into your normal cycle, it took me 8 months.

I would highly recommend the injection as long as you are over 17 as your bones need to fully develop before you start taking it.
