When do I know when to wear a tampon? Or a pad?!

Question: Please? Which one is better and more comfortable?

If it's your 1st period try a pad first so you can get used to your flow, this way you will learn how heavy you bleed and how often you need to change your pad.
When you decide you feel ready for tampons then buy 1 box, relax and try one.
I prefer tampons as I completely forget I am using one and even forget I'm on my period sometimes! Very comfortable.

i prefer tampon, however if its your first...pad

tampons are way better and less of a hassle.

they don't feel like diapers either like pads do.

your less self conscious when you use a tampon.

no leaks almost with tampons. more leaks with pads.

When you start of course but personally tampons are more comfortable to me. My best advice is to try both and see which one you are more comfortable with

it depends if your light were a pad and if you have a heavy period wear a tampon..

ask your mom... you obviously are very young

You should wear a pad when your flow is quite light or when your in bed unless you only sleep for eight hours then you can wear a tampon..
You should wear a tampon if you want to go swimming or somthing. Also if you have a heavy flow and don't want to be constantly changing your pad.

I have a small body and I like Kotex because that was the most comfortable pad I have tryed. Then I tryed Playtex Slimfits and that is the only tampons I like.

i normally stick with a tampon bc they are way more comfortable than the pad..but you may have to wear a panty liner with the tampon on your heavy days

you can wear a pad at night when your sleep...bc its not healthy to wear a tampon all night long..

Things are different for everyone, I prefer pad. you should try both of them to see which one you like most. I do prefer tampon when I am wearing a swim suit or tight pants.

Tampons are much more comfortable and practical, as you don't have a huge bulge in your panties, there are no funny odours as the blood is absorbed by the tampon inside the body and there is less chance of bacteria from the air getting to it, and once it is inside your vagina you can't feel it's there.

The only thing is, you have to make sure you remember to take it out at least every 6-8 hours otherwise there may be health risks such as toxic shock syndrome. Also, if it's your first period I would use pads to start off with so you get to know your flow throughout your cycle (it's a bit irregular to start with usually and you need to put in the right absorbency of tampon to match your flow, which is most likely to be different on different days of your cycle). Also at first they are a little tricky to put in place, most people don't push it up far enough - I would use applicator tampons at first as they are much easier to put in. Don't worry about it getting lost, it can't go anywhere.

As for when...well, as soon as you start bleeding, even just a tiny bit you should wear a tampon/pad until you have stopped. Also, never wear a tampon at night, wear a high-absorbency pad.

Hope that helps!

I prefer a pad because you dont have to stick a tampon up your vagina and a pad is less painful and you can walk straight.

Tampons, with a small pad make me feel most comfortable!

Tampons are much more comfortable.
