Feminie Hygiene question?!

Question: Okay so I go in for my yearly PAP and my Dr tells me that women should NOT use soap of any kind on their genitals or butt. I have ALWAYS used soap.....body wash......etc......
He said to just rinse with water and nothing else!
I left there thinking, no way! How would you make sure there was No odor if you don't use soap?
What do you ladies do?

I use summer eve's feminine wash on my genital area because the soap kept drying my out and causing some irration down there. It works good and it cleanse my area well. It gets rid of the odor-causing bacteria that grow down there. I just kept it in my shower for easy access to it.

u shood ask him. i think it can irritate it though

Water Is the Universal solvent

There is no reason why you should not use soap to wash yourself vaginally. However, a small percentage of women do find that some soaps - especially the highly scented variety - can cause irritation.

If you're prone to recurrent attacks of cystitis, then soap may make this problem worse. However, if you have no soreness or irritation when using soap, then use it freely.

This "Doctor" has problems..... soap is something we all need! We need to bath on a daily basis..........he's nuts?

You can use soap on the outside areas.

Soap can irritate your skin and will change your vaginal ph level, which can cause infections and dryness among other things.

You don't need to wash it w/ soap. If it smells bad enough to where water is not enough, then there is a problem.

Note that smells coming from your groin area are different from smells coming from your vagina.

Shower daily, don't use soap and you should be fine.

Use the generic version of Cetaphil. Most pharmacy chains make this and it is next to the Cetaphil on the shelf. It's not soap, but a cleaning lotion that usually doesn't give women vaginal infections. I'm very sensitive and have used it for years.
