Do you think I have some type of vaginal infection?!

Question: I have never had sex, so I am guessing it is not an STD. Anything is possible, but I am guessing no. I have been getting kind of a yellow-ish color discharge in my underwear. It is odor less most of the time but sometimes it has a really unpleasent smell. What do you think it is? Is it serious? Could it by any chance be an STD?
Thx
xx

This should help you decide.

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear, non-foul smelling discharge (mucous) is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. You will also have your own 'scent' (musky) and it will smell stronger to you than to others. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. Trust me, you don't ever want it to go away.

If its drying yellow, you are fine. If its coming out yellow you probaby have a bacterial infection.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Different types of infections:

Signs of yeast infections:
White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
Intense itching

Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

Signs of trichomoniasis
A watery, yellowish or greenish bubbly discharge
An unpleasant odor
Pain and itching when urinating
Most apparent after your period

could be a yeast infection. does it itch? or sting when you pee?
i would see a dr just to be sure. you don't have to be sexually active to get a yeast infection.

discharge is normal between periods. it ranges from clear to yellow. it usually doesn't smell, but if you don't allow enough air-flow it might (like how meat smells if you leave it in a place w/o air for a long time)

Yeast Infection? Try some gyna-lotramin or monistat.
They are both over the counter. If that doesnt work go to the DR.

no its not STD.....how can u get STD when u r not sexually active ? STD- Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
im guessing yeast infection.....is it itchy? burning or something like that??
i would go and check it out w/ a doctor just to make sure.
Hope its nothing serious/
;)

its probably vaginal discharge. it helps clean out your vagina.
Discharge (say: dis-charge) is a strange word, isn't it? It means something that is pushed out. Vaginal discharge means the fluid or mucus stuff that comes out of a girl's vagina. She might see it or feel it on her underpants.

About 6 months to a year before a girl gets her first period, her body may start to produce vaginal discharge. This is normal and is caused by the changing level of hormones in a girl's body. This discharge helps to keep the vagina healthy. Girls continue to have vaginal discharge after they get their periods. Women also have this discharge, which continues until menopause, when their bodies don't make as much of it.

Normal vaginal fluids can vary. They might be thin and slightly sticky to thick and gooey. They can be clear to white or off-white in color. The amount of discharge can also vary depending upon a girl's menstrual cycle. For example, fluids tend to be a bit heavier around the time a girl ovulates (say: av-yuh-lates), which is when an egg is released from the ovary and moves into the fallopian tube.

Normal discharge should have a slight odor and should never cause itching or burning. Problems like itching, a strong odor, or a change in color (such as brown, gray, or green) indicate that a girl may have a vaginal infection and needs to see a doctor.

For normal discharge, a girl can wear a pantiliner if that makes her more comfortable. Sometimes the moisture from normal vaginal discharge can irritate the skin. You can prevent skin irritation in the vaginal area, especially when it's hot and humid outside, by wearing cotton underwear and avoiding clothes like tight jeans and pantyhose that don't let your skin breathe.

It is also important to keep your body clean by bathing on a regular basis. You don't need to do anything special to keep this part of your body clean. Just soap and water does the trick.

If you've never had sex then it can't be an STD which stands for SEXUALLY transmitted disease. It's normal to have some sort of discharge, especially if you're someone who has their period already. Discharge is normal between periods or for girls who are starting puberty and getting ready for their periods. Women often think their own natural odors are foul. As long as you're not having an itchiness or the discharge isn't thick and cottage cheese like, then it's probably just you and not an infection.

Hi,
Hi Jamie...I hope I can help you in regard to this question gf.. Okay If you haven't had sex ..No way, it's not an STD. Unless you've sat on a wickedly dirty, funky.. toilet seat lately but that's so far out there, the chances are slim to none that this could be the problem. kay'? ie: it would be a "crabs" type thing..but I'm saying, no way on that..nadda'..nearly impossible.Hope this eases your mind on that STD question. Okay, a yellowish discharge isn't all that uncommon..especially if you wear silk panties...however whitish or clearish is most common..especially during ovulation. Another good thing is that it's odorless, this is great as most infections go depending sometimes can carry an odor...not that this is dangerous either or uncommon either. (The odor thing.) flip side, some things *can* have an odor...theres all kinds of infections ie: another form of a yeast type of thing is...gardinella..etc, theres many types and kinds of infections..curable and these again are NOT STD's! Kay??? ( most in the same family...alright sweetie?
Do you have a gynocologist you could call? Might need to go so that they could run a simple test as to which form of infection this us..not serious gf!! Sorry..I'm just trying to calm you down.( I know it's hard.) If not, could you call your family doc?? They deal with this stuff as well. He or she could find out for you. Please let me know how this turns out for you. You also could try an overthecounter type of cream first that you use for up to 7 days to possibly cure and treat the infection. Dont use vagisil as that can burn and sting and will not "cure" the infection. I believe theres monistat..and others. Just read on the box...okay? You would also want to get the kind that has a tube of cream for say 7 days or so. You also want the ones that have the "aplicators in the box. Nothing to be afraid of..most you insert deep into your vagina both morning and night, not painful...they are thin and provide relief of itching deep inside and you can apply it to your labia with your finger for external itching.(if you are experiencing that..most goes along with itching)....it's really simple and self explanitory on the directions and the paper pamphlet inside the box.. Please let me know how this turns out...just try not to be panicked or afraid...these things are very common. Oh another thing is you could ask the pharmacist..if you have one you know and trust...or simply go to one where you know a woman pharmacist works...just tell them your symptoms and rely on her to give you her advise.
Okay? You dont have to buy it there..persay..but atleast you could speak with her and get some imput. You could also visit a planned parenthood as they deal with this stuff too...you'll feel so much better when this is delt with and over...and way relieved! Lemme know! btw, have you been on any antibiotics lately? Again, the side effects of them can be a yeast infection for women. Oh and really tight pants, silk panties, deoderant sanitary pads or deod.. panty-liners...etc...hang in there! Hope this helped!

Email me privatly if you'd like, although I'm way behind....I will get back to you/.//promise! :) Oh and this is NOTHING to be ashamed of!

Love,
EIleen
