Breakthrough bleeding, hurting, question?!

Question: I started birth control about three weeks ago, and I am having break through bleeding I think, but I have cramp like pains and my mum is worried because she said this isn't normal when you just have breakthrough bleeding. I dont think its my period because it's not due for another week. Since I started taking it about three weeks ago, will I stop breakthrough bleeding by June??? I'm going on holiday and I really need it to stop!!

firstly it is very possible for you to have break through bleeding when you have just started to take hormone based birth control i.e the pill, injection or implants.
the reason for it is because your body is adjusting to the change in hormone levels and until it has done so it causes this break through bleeding.
i was on the injection and had the breakthrough bleeding for about three months until it sorted itself out.
as for cramping, again that is normal as just as you can have period pains so can you get pains through breakthrough bleeding as the blood is coming from the same area in the same way as a period
as for the question of if it will stop by june. that question cannot really be answered as everybody is different.
if you are concerned then go to the doctor who may suggest you try a different form of birth control that may suit you better.

I know some types of birth control can change your period cycle, and some even stop it all together. It may take a month or so for your body to get used to birth control and fall into a regular cycle. Hope that helps.

Recently I began taking Alesse Birth control and this was the first time for me that I experienced break through bleeding. It was happening daily for me for about a week before my actual period so it felt like I had a 2 week period which I was not happy about. According to others whom I spoke too, this is a normal side effect of this particular birth control and should go away in about 3-6 months. Well I was not impressed with that so I actually stopped taking them altogether. Perhaps you need a different brand of birth control ?

many times when you start a new birth control you do have break threw bleeding I just bled for a week and a half and its not fun . its sucks dosent it. I had mine on vacation also not fun. take midol it helps some. i get really bad cramps too . i hope ya feel better soon .

Breakthrough bleeding is normal with some birth control pills and it can last a couple of weeks and it can last a couple of months. MOST of the time it goes away in a month or so, but not always. You may be stuck with with the breakthrough bleeding on your vacation.
