I had an unusual vaginal secretion and was wondering what it is?!

Question: i hope this is not too gross for anyone, but last night when i went to the bathroom (to urine), and when i wiped i felt the paper just slide so when i looked down there were like some slimy clear fluid there, my mother said it was mucus but it is scaring me a bit:
it was like when some girls (like me) have my period i usually get that secretion but i don't have my period at the time.
what can this secretion be?
what can it mean?
is it a serious thing?

i am a 19year old female

Your secretions can and will change with your cycle. The secretion is vaginal discharge or cervical mucus. It can mean a couple of things, clear sticky fluid is generally called eggwhite mucus (because it looks like eggwhites). A lot of women get it when they are about to or are ovulating. There is also generally more of it at that point in the cycle as the body is trying to make things as receptive as possible to get pregnant.

It is normal and not a serious issue. You mom was right... (you don't have to tell her that :)

good luck!

Its nothing serious.
It sounds like you a going to be starting your period soon. The secretion is mucus. Don't worry.
