Sleep help? :/?!


Question: Sleep help!? :/!?
okay so the past few days i cant sleep!.
idk why! I mean i'll try to go to sleep maybe at nine and tonight ill try at 11!.!.!. well ill just lay there twisting turning and ill get irritated and my foot will fall alsleep or something will agrivate me for 30min or more!!. and i try to go to sleep like i do every night!.
last night i didnt snooze off till 3 or 4am! i have highschool at 7 so i have to leave at 6:20 or earlier due to having to ride the bus with my friend!. how can i go to sleep!. no, turning off my tv wont help then i def cant go to sleep!. i dont care im 14 and afraid of the dark but ill admit it!. :) so any help!

like should i just stay up!. i might doze off but ill be up again in 30min to 2hours! so i only get 30min or 2hours of sleep!. :/
it doesnt seem to really affect me at school!. i dont sleep i actually cant believe im awake and school lecturing is more boring! this is so wierd!. sorry i rambled!. XD

Ok, I have a couple of suggestions!. First, stating the obvious, but it can be tempting since you haven't been sleeping for a couple of days--no caffeine! I don't care if its never affected you in the past, somethings up with your body, so no caffeine until you actually get some restful sleep!.

That being said, is there something new in your life that could be causing you stress!? Often times sudden onset insomnia is caused by stress!. So, what is new!? Parents have been fighting a lot!? Major paper due at school!? Friend drama!? Issues with your significant other!? What has changed in the last week that could be causing this!?

If you can come up with something (or a couple of somethings), the next step is to write!. Sit down and do a stream of consciousness write!. Get your ramble on!. Write down everything you can think of that relates to that topic or issue!. Get it all out!. If you aren't a writer, find someone you can trust and talk to them!. The point is to release the stress--whatever works best for you is what you should do!.

What if its not stress!? Or, at least, what if you can't put your finger on it!? Exercise! Go do something will really get your heart pumping 30 minutes to an hour before bed!. Sometimes all you need to do is physically exhaust yourself to knock yourself out!.

I am a chronic insomniac--I've have insomnia since I was 5, and I'm 28 now!. I have a couple of things that I do to help me with my insomnia, which may or may not help you!. First, I have a play list that I listen to when I go to sleep!. Its the same songs, every night!. There are no words, just instrumental (I'm not a huge fan of classical, so I got soundtrack instrumentals)!. Have you heard of Pavolv!? He used to ring a bell and then feed his dog--eventually, the dog learned that the bell meant that he was going to be fed, and would start to droll as soon as he heard the bell!. Well, this is a similar theory--I have trained my body that when this music comes on, I go to sleep!.

Next, I am totally anti-tv when sleeping!. I know you said that you are afraid of the dark!. That is ok! But its way to easy to be ADD with TV!. Is your computer in your room!? If it is, set it to got to screen saver after 5 minutes, and then have screen saver stay on for 1/2 hour to an hour!. That way you have flickering light similar to your tv, but if you watch it, its not going to do much other than hypnotize you!. Check out electric sheep--its pretty, and free!. Get a night light so that if you wake up in the middle of the night after your monitor has turned off, you aren't in total darkness!. Hell, get a couple if you feel so inclined!.

First don't drink any soft drink after 7pm at night!. Any caffeine or sugar makes it hard for you to go to sleep!.

Invest in a night light!.

Television light flickers, and can actually stimulate the brain and keep you awake!. Just buy a small night light that you can plug into your power point!.

Turn the clock away from your bed, so you don't watch the time!. Sometimes watching the time makes you stay up longer!. (you become a clock watcher)!.

Have a warm glass of milk or hot chocolate before you go to bed!.

Have a hot shower!.

Read for about 10 mins before you go to sleep!. This will make you sleepy!. (don't read a huge novel as sometimes you might want to stay up reading it!.!.!.!.!. read magazines or short stories)!.

Try and go to bed at the same time every night!. If you try at different times each night, then your body clock is not going to think your tired!. Try and get into a routine!.

If your tossing and turning!. Maybe your not comfortable!. Find a comfortable pillow and bedding!.

Make sure the temperature is right in your room!. Sometimes being too hot or too cold can aggravate our sleep!. If you have airconditioning set the temperature to something your comfortable with!.

If those simple solutions don't help!. Then you might have a sleep problem and need to go to the doctor to get tests!.

Sometimes they put you in a sleep clinic to see what you might have!.

Yeah I have this exact same problem!. I also sleep with the TV on because I'm afraid of the dark too and I'm 15!. Lol!. Ok anyway try exercising during the day!. It makes you feel good and it will ware you out so you can sleep!. Also, while your laying in bed, listen to quite music until you doze off!. It will help!. Good luck!. =]Www@Answer-Health@Com

wow, we have the exact same problem!.!.!.
im 19 and i still sleep with my lights on!.!.!. only sometimes tho, and i notice that my sleepless sleeping spree started when i was 15 or 16!. anyway, anyone that have hard time sleeping or just cant sleep is call a "Insomniac" it means someone who cant sleep, lol

i suggest you talk to your school nurse first, to see what she gots to say, then talk to your parents or your doctorWww@Answer-Health@Com

I had your same problem, hopefully you can get sick so you can take nighttime medication and it will knock your *** out!
