Manipulating my birth control/period?!

Question: Manipulating my birth control/period!?
I am going on vacation with my boyfriend and another couple in a few weeks!. Unfortunately!.!.!.I am supposed to be on my period that week!. I am on ortho-tri cyclen!. I am on the second week in the pack now!.!.!.and i was thinking about just starting a new pack on sunday!.!.!.instead of continuing with this pack!. It will only delay my period 1 week!. Good idea!? Ever done this!? Do you think I will have a problem with breakthrough bleeding!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Ortho Tri-Cyclen is a tough pill to skip a period on since its hormone levels change each week (tri-cyclen, get it!?)!. You may want to visit this site (below) for some ideas of how you could skip/delay your period, but there are absolutely no guarantees and you could get some breakthrough bleeding much like your regular period!. Still, it's probably worth a try, right!?

You could also talk to your doctor!.!.!. I know there is a pill or shot doctors prescribe occasionally which delays your period for a few weeks (it IS NOT depo provera) but I can't remember what exactly it's called!. Many women choose to do this when their wedding day and or honeymoon falls during Aunt Flo's visit!.

Eventually you may want to switch to a monophasic (1 hormone level) pill!. I'm on Yaz and have no problem skipping my periods - in fact, my doctor recommended it! I just take 3 packs of active pills only and then break for 4 days when I have my period!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do that all the time, although I'm on Yasmin!. I doubt you'll have any bleeding in between, and I think its safe to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do that now!. I actually have been doing that for 3 years and I have had about 4 periods the each year for all 3 years!. The point that I am trying to make is, it's okay for you to do that!.!.!. It's not unhealthy!.

***EDIT*** Oh, and I have not had any trouble with break through bleeding!. Except for maybe once or twice when I didn't take the pill on time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm 17 and from the UK!.

I take Cilest (an oral contraceptive, or 'The Pill') and because I suffer from severe dysmenorrea I take the Pill in a long seqeunce to avoid missing sixth-form because of the pain!. My gynaecologist recommended it, and so I now take a full box of Cilest in one go (a full box is 3x 21 days worth, so I take the 63 days instantly - about three months without a period) and then have my 7 day break!. I then repeat this, and so it goes 3 months and then a week's break and so on!.

I have experienced spotting before during this time but not a whole lot!. Obviously it depends how heavy your period is!. But basically what I'm saying is that I do it just to ease the pain and it shouldn't affect you!. Hope this helps!

However, I do advise that you discuss this with your local doctor or gynaenacologist!. A lot of women do this sort of thing for similar reasons, and so it may be useful to get some advice from the professionals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ok doing that is not a good idea it messes up your cycle and ur hormones ive done it before and ive talked to my obygn about it so take it from someone who has done it and just stick to taking ur pills the way ur suppose to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
