Birth Control & Anxiety?!

Question: Birth Control & Anxiety!?
I have been on the same birth control for almost 3 years!. I've been on birth control, overall, for about 10!. I've been having panic attacks lately, which I'm treating with Lexapro and Xanax!. I plan to get pregnant in the next year though, and I'm concerned about coming off the birth control!. Anyone had any experience with that!? As far as birth control withdrawals, anxiety getting worse!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Hormone changes can cause anxiety!. Since birth control pills are basically hormones, you're more or less causing yourself a hormone imbalance by taking them!. Depression, anxiety, other mood changes are common side effects
I'd speak to your doctor about getting a blood panel done to check your hormones and see if you need progesterone to calm the anxiety once you get off the pill!. Not only that, if you've been on the pill for 10 years, you might need to rebalance your hormones in order to conceive!.

In my opinion, it seems crazy to take 2 different mood altering drugs to combat the side effects caused by a 3rd drug!. If you plan to become pregnant, remember that your baby will be fed the Lexapro and Xanax through your blood!. Consider getting off those as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I went off Birth Control one week ago, after going to the hospital with severe chest pains brought on by anxiety!.
The hormones in the birth control were giving me the anxiety, and since I have been off the birth control I have never felt better!
I will never ever go on birth control again, condoms work fine, the hormones in bc can really mess you up!.
You wont have withdrawals (except you will get your period a few days after quitting), and your anxiety will get better, I guarantee it!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't be as conserned about birth control withdrawls!. I've never heard of anything like that!. But i would be conserned about becoming pregnant while taking lexapro and Xanax!. I went off Prozac when i became pregnant with my son just because there wern't any studies at the time that said it didn't cause the fetus harm!.
I had HORRIBLE post partum depression!. Be sure to talk with your OB/GYN and the Pediatrician before and after your pregnancy!.
best of luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
