I am going on birth control via Planned Parenthood, do I have to tell my regular!

Question: I am going on birth control via Planned Parenthood, do I have to tell my regular physician, too!?
I'm 17 years old and starting the birth control pill for the first time without my parents knowing!. I went to planned parenthood to get it and everything is great!. But my parents come to the doctor with me every time I go and they leave my medical history up on the screen and everything, and I know it would be a really easy slip for my doctor to mention I was on the pill with my parents in the room!. Do I really HAVE to tell the doctor I'm on it!? Can they do any tests or anything that would show I was on it!? I really can't have my parents find out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it's just for a general checkup, you can probably get by with not saying anything!. But keep in mind, some medications can affect Birth Control Pills, so if you are going to the doc for an illness it might make a difference!. For example, antibiotics can greatly affect how well the pill works!.

If you are getting meds, ask the doctor if there are any interactions just in case!. I understand this is a touchy situation for you!. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders getting yourself protected from unwanted pregnancy, good job! I understand how you want to keep this on the hush-hush, just be aware and do some research if you can't ask the doc!. Or, another option is to call Planned Parenthood if you are on other meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're 17, leave your parents in the waiting room!. Or corner the nurse or doc privately when you get a chance and request some privacy!. They will kindly ask your parents to wait for you!. You have to tell the doctor, yes, because they always need to know what you are taking to avoid a drug interaction with anything else they may prescribe for you!. For instance, if your regular doc gives you something as seemingly harmless as antibiotics and doesn't know that you are also on the pill, he can't warn you in advance to use a backup method of birth control since antibiotics weaken the effectiveness of your pill!. Then could you imagine having to tell them that your PREGGERS!!! You have to tell your doc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to tell your pysician and be open and honest because if they don't know you're on it, and prescribe you medication, that could react horribly with the medication!. If you feel that uncomfortable, ask your parents to leave the room because everything you speak to a doctor about is confidential!. Although, I'd try to be open with your parents so you don't so bad about hiding this from them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to tell your doctor you are on it, no matter what!.

You shouldn't have to have your parents go to the doctor with you anymore and if they do ask they stay in the waiting room!. Your doctor cannot give anyone (including family) info about your health, etc!. without your written permission!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You do HAVE to tell them!.!.!.your primary care physican should know about that!!.
I remember when i was 17, they kicked my mom out of the room to ask me personal questions like that =]!.!.!.or you can request that they do that!.!.!.
why not have ur parents know, you are PRACTICING SAFER SEX!!!!?!
you're 17, which means you are TOO YOUNG to support a child!.!.you are doing a good thing for yourself!.!.!.
butttttt even if you tell your Dr!. they cannot tell your parents!.!.!.
absolutely cannot!.!.especially if you request they dont!.!.
but as for your parents, leave them in the waiting room, tell them your a big girl =]Www@Answer-Health@Com

If they tested your hormones they might be able to detect it but I am not sure, maybe tell the doctor you don't want your parents to know but you are on the pill, then he wouldnt be able to tell your parents!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tell your doctor, this way if he ever needs to prescribe any meds for you he can do so without killing you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
