Question: Do under active thyroids run in your genes!?
My mom has one at the moment and so did my mom's uncle's wife which doesn't have the same genes as us!. I am very very young and I think I am developing an under active thyroid, unfortunately!. Thanks for your time & help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not sure whether or not under active thyroids run in families!. I have hypothyroidism (under active thyroid) and no one on either side of my family has it!. I'm sure it's possible that it's genetic in some cases!. You should definitely get tested if you think you have hypothyroidism!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
In my family it runs in my maternal side!. My grandmother had hypothyroidism, my mother had it and I got it at age 18!. The symptoms that showed up for me were: extreme fatigue, dry hair and skin, weight gain, bloating in face, joint pains, muscle cramps and headaches!.
