Question: Cervical Biopsy came back as "moderate to severe dysplasia" What does that mean!?

As I understand it, dysplasia is a pre-cancerous condition!. You don't have cancer but it could become cancer!. I had the same diagnosis but I also had trouble with uterine fibroids so I ended up getting a hysterectomy!. I think they can treat it without hysterectomy though!. That is just crazy! they should schedule you a follow up pap or biopsy and explain to you what dysplasia is!. It's common and easily treated so don't worry :)

I cannot believe your doctor left you a message like that!. He should have told you to call him ASAP and explained this to you!. I would think you need some form of treatment!. I don't mean to scare you but below is what cervical dysplasia means!.!.!.you need to get yourself back to the doctor, and I would tell him his practice of leaving this type of message on an answering machine is reprehensible!. Dysplasia is not cancer, but it can develop into cancer of the cervix!. Cervical dysplasia is classified as either Mild (CIN I), Moderate (CIN II), or Severe (CIN II or Carcinoma-in-situ)!. Linked to a sexually transmitted disease caused by some strains of a wart virus, called the human papillomavirus (HPV), it is more common in women who have many sex partners or who began to have intercourse before age 18!. Cervical dysplasia has also been associated with cigarette smoking and too little folic acid in the diet!. It rarely has any symptoms and the first clues of it's presence is when a Pap Smear result is abnormal!. The definitive diagnosis is made by biopsies (small pieces of tissue taken from the body and looked at under a microscope)!. The biopsies are done during a procedure called a Colposcopy (Please see the Colposcopy Page for more information about the procedure)!. Most often found in women between 25 and 35 years of age, it can occur in younger and older women!.

It could be absolutly nothing in the end so dont go thinking you have it when you might not!.OK also have your husband read this with you and have him come to the appointment with you when you go so your both in formed as to whats going on and what or whats not gonna happen from there!. And to come in for a sit down and discuss whats going on!. Thats all!. Ive had calls like that I freaked out big time!. they called me at work and told me my oldest might have downs when they did the test in my 20th wk!. Its not something you want to hear!. So this way is much better for the doctors when they need to call!. Thats all!. My Dads an RN and he makes calls like that alot, its never easy when you have to give someone possible bad news!. There are abnormal cells on your cervix, which could mean a number of things, but with moderate to severe dysplasia, you probably need some sort of treatment!. Call your doctor and ask what they want you to do, and consider switching doctors if they just leave a message like that with no explanation!. That is completely out of line!Www@Answer-Health@Com
It means they noted an irregularity in your biopsy!. Call them as soon as you can and they'll probably be able to help you out!.

call your doctor back, he/she will have you back in for some treatment to get rid of those surface cells that are abnormal so it doesn't change into cancer!. dysplasia is a term for abnormal cells!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
