Is there anything that helps with the discomfort of a copper IUD?!

Question: Is there anything that helps with the discomfort of a copper IUD!?
Answers:
I found taking 3 tylenol #1's & 3 advils and resting or taking a warm bath was helpful!. They are quite uncomfortable, aren't they!.

Tylenol #1s =300mg acetaminophen & 8mg codeine!. Available at the pharmacy counter without an rx!.

If you don't want to take codeine, you can take ibuprophen (advil) and tylenol extra strength together!.

I really want to tell you it gets better, but I found for me it didn't!. Mind you it only bothered me for a few days while I was having my period!. I managed to tolerate it!. I had it for about a year then we decided to start our family so I had it removed!. Removal doesn't hurt like insertion did!. I found insertion was very painful! I didn't feel the removal at all!.

I guess if you are really suffering you need to ask yourself if its worth it!. Maybe its not right for you!. For myself, hormonal based birth control wasn't an option, thats why I went with the copper IUD!. There are other options out there!.!.!.unfortunately it seems that the hormone based ones are the most convienent!.

If you aren't keen on hormones and are in a strong committed relationship, you could look at using natural family planning as birth control!. It just has to do with learning to read your body's signals to avoid pregnancy!. I knows its not for everyone, but it can and does work when done properly!. If you are interested theres a book called 'Taking Charge of your Fertility' that is a great resource!. But again, I know its not for everyone!.

I wish you luck with whatever you decide!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are not having menstral cramps and are having discomfort you need to go back to the Dr!. yesterday!. If not just give it a little bit more time, the cramps should lessen!. If this continues go and get rechecked it may have not been placed properly or have moved!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
