Question: Pap smear question for the females!?
ive had 1 pap smear before & i was in shock because i was 14 but now im 18 & been sexually active so im a little bit stupid because i was supposed to get 1 a wile back!.im really scared that its going to hurt me!.i think i might cry!.can any one tell me what exactly happens & how much pain are you in during & after!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am 34, and I had my first pap smear at age 11!.
Try to relax, and take slow deep breaths!. When she inserts the speculum, just take a deep breath in and slowly let it out!. Close your eyes and imaging something nice and peaceful!.
Also tell your doctor that you are really nervous about it!.

14 you had a pap!? That was young!. But yes at 18 you should start with yearly exams esp if sexually active!. I hope you are using protection!. Now with the pap exam you have the obvious strip down, on your back thing!. The Dr will most likely ask you to use the stir-ups and bend knees out!. Yes it leaves you very exposed and vulnerable!. The best advice I can give you is to relax it really is not that bad and the pain is minimal!. It is uncomfortable but not excrutiating!. It is like the cramps you get with your period!. Bring a panty liner as well you might have some discharge afterwards!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
