Why would anyone EVER use an intrauterine device?!

Question: Why would anyone EVER use an intrauterine device!?
IUD's!. They get inserted into your uterus via your cervix!.

I'm asking in all seriousness- why not a less invasive method!?
-condoms
-the Depo Provera shot
-birth control pills
-that hormone ring (at least IT'S soft)

Why!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The IUD, when first introduced was very popular!. Women enjoyed the spontaneity and the freedom from having to remember to take The Pill every day, at the same time, and never having to worry about being protected from pregnancy!.

The IUD is not as widely used today!. However, a new version of it was released last year and marketed to women who are not planning on having children!.

True, condoms, Depo Provera, The Pill, etc!., are far less invasive!. But they each have their own pros and cons!.

Depo Provera, while very effective for birth control has been shown to have many side effects including weight-gain, calcium/bone loss, depression, as well as instances where women have had headaches or even bleeding throughout the shot's 3 month cycle of effectiveness!.

Condoms are great, and effective in protecting against contracting STDs, however, they can break, offer less in the way of spontaneity, and since they are just 98% effective, are best used along with a "back-up" birth control method, such as The Pill or contraceptive foams!.

For many years, women have enjoyed the use of The Pill!. If you are good at remembering to take it every day, at the same time, it is a wonderful form of birth control!. It's when you aren't good at remembering it that you get into trouble!. And also, The Pill does not protect you against STDs!.

Birth control is a lot of trial and error!. I've had my doctor change my Pill four times before I found the one that worked for me!. And I've known women who've gone from Depo Provera to the Pill to the Patch and back to The Pill!.

Birth control is about as individual as we women are!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

For me it's convenience!. I'm over 35 and smoke plus I had major problems with the hormones so that canx out the pill, depo, nuvaring on top of that I am allergic to latex add to that a 15 year relationship condoms just aren't it!. Look at it this way it takes about as long as a pap smear, once it's there copper ones last 10 years!. Once a month I have to check for the strings to make sure it's still there, thats it!. It's not painful to get or to have removed, and if I would choose to get pregnant, once it's removed I can start trying immediately!. Oh and by the way once it's inserted you don't know it's there at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok so here is the deal!. I am on Nuvaring and love it!. I have been on it for over a year!. However, It costs me about $40 a month sometimes $50!. Needless to say, it is VERY expensive and adds up!. I am a college student and I dont make very much money!. I was thinking about getting this because 1) I know I DO NOT want kids for the next 5 years!. and 2) I wont have to pay money out of my pocket every single month when I really cant afford it for BC!.

Thats why!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Years ago, I am 55, I had to go off the pill for surgery!. I had an I!.U!.D!. and I admit it is a drag!. Too much bleeding during your period but once it is in you did not have to worry about pregnancy!. We did not have the DP shot back then!. The first Dr!. to put it in was my family Dr!. and that was so painful!. The second time I had an O!.B!.G!.Y!.N!. do it and it was not near as bad!. I did go back to the pill as soon as possible!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mainly because you won't forget to take it!. I don't believe they are as effective as pills, but probably more so than condoms!. You can't feel them once they are inserted!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would never use such a device!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used them for a while and haven't had a problem!. Mine work!. No baby here!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
