Birth Control and HIPPA laws?!
Question: Birth Control and HIPPA laws!?
I'm 18 and I would like to go on birth control but I know my mom will freak so, I'm trying to get it without her!. I have considered going to Planned Parenthood but I would prefer to get it in my doctors office!. If I go to my doctor can/will he tell my mom!. Also, I'm a little worried about insurance!. Will my mom be able to see this on the bill!? Is any of this protected under the HIPPA laws!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can go to your family doc and inquire about their privacy laws!. at your age, you should be able to get confidential care!. but if there will always be a risk if you don't tell them to keep it quiet!.
i once asked the doc at a clinic about prescriptions and whether or not my parents could find out ( should a bill be sent)!. the doctor didn't know!.
if you go to a planned parenthood clinc, you can usually get cheaper bc!. you might consider getting the pills from the clinic and seeing your regular doctor for exams and such!. that way, your birth control is kept separate while still seeing someone you might be more confortable with!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
