Mood swings in my 11 year old daughter?!
Question: Mood swings in my 11 year old daughter!?
She has learning disabilities and possibly neurological deficits that I am fighting with the pediatrician about!.
She is physically starting to develop and her mood swings are incredible!. I am not a stranger to girls going through puberty but feel she is experiencing extreme mood swings!. What type of doctor would be best to help determine if this is normal for her!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is tough because Dr's tend to look for problems in their specialty!. If you took her to a psychiatrist she will get psychotropic drugs, a psychologist behavioral therapy etc!. I would be tempted to look for a referral to a pediatric endocrinologist to rule out hormonal problems associated with puberty and then maybe the psychologist!. I hate use meds unless it becomes necessary so I treat them as a last resort!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Hi there again!.!.!. well being a mother of 5 and two being girls I too am no stranger to the mood swings of a teenager in puberty!. I would definitely keep the pediatrician n the loop of things!.!.!. but I did take my now 15 ear old to a psychologist which referred me to a psychiatrist which put my daughter on a medication called Straterra for her depression and mood swings!.!.!. you are the mom you know your child better than anyone!.!.!. seek the answer my the means of your daughters moods!.!.!. trust me she does not like herself right now!.!.!. and probably does not understand why!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Speaking to her teacher first would be the best bet she can comment as to wether she too has noticed the swings she will then refer you to the closest docWww@Answer-Health@Com
