Question: Has anyone used (or currently using) Mirena!? (The 5 year IUD birth control)!?
I am quickly approaching my due date and want some long lasting birth control after I give birth!. I don't want anything permanent but soemthing low maintenance and long lasting!. I was considering Mirena!. Anyone have any experience with it!? Is it uncomfortable!? Is it effective!? Can I breast feed while on it!?Are there any cancer risks!? (Cancer runs in my family and I'm trying to steer away from anything with risks)

I am currently using Mirena, and I love it!. I had it inserted 6 weeks after my second daughter was born (2 years ago)!.
I had some cramping for a few days after insertion, but it wasn't too bad!. I don't find it uncomfortable at all!. In fact, I often forget I have it!. It is the most effective birth control on the market (99!.9%)!. You can breastfeed on it because the hormones are the lowest dose of any hormonal birth control, and they are localized (they mainly stay in the uterus)!. I also had the same concerns about breastfeeding and cancer (my mom has breast cancer)!. The hormones in Mirena are progesterone, not estrogen!. Those are the main concern with cancer risk!. This is the only birth control my midwife recommended for me, and I had all of the same concerns you just voiced!. I have never been happier with a birth control!.
