You should know that SEVERE period cramping is NOT normal! It is a sign that something is wrong and so you'll NEED to see your Gynecologist ASAP! Don't be so worried about your doctor visit!. You can always request a female doctor!. And the doctor will be very aware of your nervousness and therefore explain everything she does and talk to you the whole time so you won't even think about the fact that your legs are spread open and someone is down there examining the area!. Your privacy is VERY important so you'll be covered up with a light sheet!. If you get a male doctor, he'll have a nurse in the room with him just to make sure that he does what he is supposed too!. You have to get over the "self consciousness", because you'll be seeing Gynecologist a lot more often especially if you are already having problems!. You can request a pill for anxiety/and or panic attacks like Xanax or Ativan that will allow you to feel more comfortable during your appointment!. Just call up the doctor prior to your appointment and explain your fear to them!. And don't worry at all, they have seen so many hundreds of Vagina's that it really is no big deal!. Simply another part of your body!. But like I said if the anxiety you have is strong, go ask for a tranquilizer pill!. OK back to the bad cramps!. The most common reason for severe period cramping is Endometriosis, which also causes irregular and heavy bleeding, plus Ovarian Cysts and Adhession's!. That's why it is important to get checked out and treated!. Your doctor can prescribe a strong pain medication that will help you when over the counter meds like Advil or Motrin don't work!. And you might also want to invest in a good hot water bottle, it will feel great against you sore pelvic region! Despite what so called experts recommend, don't exercise!. Take it easy and curl up in a ball if it helps!. Take the day off when it is the worse!. Hope you get to feeling better soon and get the help that you need! Best of luck and Take care!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know one of the worst things you can do is eat anything with high amounts of salt in it try to avoid that kind of food and if you can just food all together try to eat SMALL portions as remember it is pain!. And if you can take aspirin I just took 3 earlier my pain is gone!.

I think it's best to avoid tea and soda things that are high in sugar/caffeine too!.!.

oh and doing physical activity can help but you don't have to go haywiyer it makes it worse for some people or doesn't help!. Heat also helps (keeping your abdomen warm)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would talk to your doctor as they can prescribe a pain killer designed specifically for this (it is wonderful)!. If you are not comfortable with a pelvic exam explain that to your doctor as well as your reasons for it (most doctors will forgo the exam if you are not sexually active)!.

Hot water bottles also work wonders

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Exercise!. Believe it or not, exercise can help cramps!. Exercising REGULARLY can help prevent cramps!. Try swimming, it's light and easy but helps a lot!.

If you insist on laying down, make sure you're not too tense!. If you're very anxious and tense your muscles, it's much worse!. lay comfortably on your side and RELAX!.

A hot bath can help as well!.

Feel better :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
