Endometriosis..?!

Question: Endometriosis!.!.!?
I havent been diagnosed with endometriosis, have been brushed off by many doctors and gynos for my age (19)saying i cant get it at my age but I strongly feel I have it, I have pelvic pain nearly all month worse at the time of my cycle that feels like someone is scraping a razor blade across my pelvic area, heavy periods that seem to get heavy and quiet cyclic bowel symptoms (diareah around a week before im due and then a week after ive had my cycle), my mum, aunt and cousins all have endometriosis and I would really like to know if the bowel symptoms are common, my doctor seems to think it isnt a symptom at all and wants to tell me I have IBS (which I dont feel I do as its not severe like what ive read on IBS)!.!. any help please, im so sick of being in pain!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You most likely do have it!. The problem with doctors is they don't know about this disease and are under the impression it only happens to 'career women'!. This is bullshit and you need to find a doctor who CAN diagnose you!. Call the Endometriosis Association for a list of doctors in your area and also contact the EA for your local support group so that you can talk directly with women who can advise you on which doctors to go to!. It took me 9 years to be correctly diagnosed as the doctors I went to had no clue!. They were idiots!. It was eventually a young male doctor who told me I probably had endo!. He had just graduated so he had the knowledge!.

Endometriosis is genetic so you most likely have it!. Many women experience bowel problems with it but the best thing to do is control it through diet!. Drugs negatively impact your liver and that compounds the problem (makes it worse)!.

I have endo and have had it for years!. The best way to deal with this (doctors won't tell you this because they are very uninformed when it comes to this complex disease) is through nutritional changes in your diet!. I have tried surgery, drugs, pain medication and the huge difference diet has made for me confirms this!. First of all GIVE UP WHEAT! There are many substitutes for wheat (spelt bread; rice bread; corn or spelt tortillas) that you can get at Whole Foods or your local natural food store!. That makes a huge difference - wheat (not gluten) is a direct contributor the biochemistry of the disease!. Next, start taking oil supplements such as flax or fish oils or evening primrose oils!. These each contain Omega 3, 6, and 9 which are very good for combatting the pain!. a Calcium / Magnesium supplement will also help!.

Avoid cigarettes (dioxin, which is found in Cigs causes the disease), alcohol and sugar!.

Check out the book "Endometriosis - a key to healing through nutrition" by Diane Shepperson Mills - her book is incredible in terms of what you can do for yourself, and great stories from women who have had success!. There is NO cure for this disease but I have successfully managed it for the past 5 years with dietary changes and I eat great!

You can buy the book cheaply on Amazon!.com
Also check out the Endometriosis Association online!. Their website is not the prettiest, but they have good info and they have support groups all over the country where you can meet/ phone other women for direct assistance and advice!. it is a great network!.

Good luck and remember, this disease is MORE common than breast cancer, so spread the word!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bowel problems can be a symptom of endometriosis, and you can certainly have endo at your age!. Unfortunately, most obgyns are not that knowledgable of endo so it is common to get brushed off by dr!.s!. The only way to diagnose endo is through a laporoscopy so if you are in a lot of pain as well as experiencing other symptoms it would be best to see another dr!. who can diagnose you properly-preferrably one that is experienced and knowledgabl in endo!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Keep searching for a doctor who will do the tests to find out or even just to put your mind at ease if its not endo!. Its obviously bothering you and I would be concerned as well if there was a history of it in the family!. Have you tried taking anything for IBS just to make sure its not that!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I myself don't have Endometriois, but I would suggest you go find another Doctor and tell them of your families history with this problem!.

The problems that you are having aren't quite normal, so please find a good Doctor, one that will listen to you!. Good Luck and please Take Care!Www@Answer-Health@Com
