I was three hours late taking my birth control... should I use a back-up method?!

If you are on the mini-pill (progesterone only) then yes, as you only have a 3 hour window in which to take it, but if you are on the combined pill then you can take it up to 12 hours late and it will still be effective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be fine!. Never hurts to ask though!. Good thing you're concerned!. I've been on the pill for 6 years now!. There have been times where I've been a few hours late, to even missing taking a pill for two days ( very bad I know, I was very busy and stressed out though and it slipped my mind)!. So far though everything is ok ( and I hope it stays that way)!. If you forget your pill, just take it as soon as you remember!. Now if you go more than 3 days without taking it ( for whatever reason) then it is advisable to use extra care, condoms and even a sperimicidal lubricant or spermicidal vaginal insert ( such as VCF or encare) is really good!. If this is your first time forgetting, I wouldn't sweat it!. However if this happens a lot I'd suggest another form of birthcontrol, or to set an alarm ( some pills cases have built in alarms) to remind you to take it!. Hope everything is A-ok!. Goodluck!. ive been on the pill for about 3 months now and sometimes im a couple hours late taking my pill and im not pregnant yet haha!. just as long as you do not miss the pill and you take the next one regularly you'll be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
