been with my partner going on 4 and a half yrs and recently put on antideppresants with depression but just dont want any sex no matter how sexy and nice he is towards me lastnight he had to do his own hand job sorry for too much info but this is how far it's gone should i tell my doctor when i see her on friday!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You didn't say which one you are on, i am on Citalopram 30mg, which totally ruined my sex drive unfortunatly!. We just have to work a bit harder in setting the mood etc!. But still i sometimes can't be bothered of just dont feel like it!.!.!.which is not like me at all!. I have tried several different ones to improve it but they didnt work for me!. However everyones different so pop and see your doctor and see if they can help you out!.

Yes, this is a common side effect with anti-depressants!. If you are still having a hard time getting "in the mood" after another couple months, I would talk to your dr about switching medications or changing the dosages!.
Sometimes, even if your not in the mood to be intimate with your partner, if you just do it anyway, often you may be surprised at how much you start to enjoy it once you've actually gotten started!. This is perfectly normal when taking anti-depressants hun!. I have been on and off medication for years and for all the different types that I have tried this has always been a side effect, which doesnt help when your trying to get better and hold down a relationship! I really dont think that theres any medication that wont give this side effect sorry!. Just try concentrating on yourself, if your partner is the one he will understand!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I would definitely tell the doctor!. To answer your question, it is common to lose sex drive while taking anti depressants!. It should be a side effect listed on the medication!. I wouldn't worry too much, just let the doctor know, she may need to give you a different anti depressant!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
