my mom scheduled me for a physical and i really dont want to go!. my dr is a guy and im almost 14!. i really need a girl dr cuz i dont feel comfortable with a man asking me about periods and looking at my vagina and looking and touching my boobs!. what do drs do at a physical checkup when you are 13!? please answer!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no reason for you to have a vaginal exam unless you are having sex, or planning to or you are having problems with your periods!. If you don't know your doctor, it would be crazy to think you would be comfortable with him doing a personal exam on you, including a breast exam!. Is there a nurse practitioner in your doctor's office you could have your mom request instead!? ( or a female PA or doctor!?) It would be worth finding out and scheduling with someone you would feel better about having as your health care provider!.
It is important to begin to have routine physicals as you enter your teenage years!. This screens you for any growth or development problems and hopefully will catch things early so it can be corrected before there are long term effects!. Your exam should include a question survey of all the different organ systems in your body and an exam to be sure nothing is abnormal!. Heart, lungs, abdomen, skeleton, muscles, neurologic functions (vision, hearing, learning) , and skin should all be screened and examined!. Most pediatricians who do these exams understand how uncomfortable this can be and are really good about making you feel comfortable before doing anything!. If you don't feel comfortable with anything, speak up and say so! calm down! for one thing, if you feel that uncomfortable with going to a male doctor, talk to your mom about it and maybe she can take you to a woman!. besides, you won't be naked for the doctor!. i had physicals for sports when i was your age, you just have to pee in a cup and have a routine check up!. he probably won't even ask you about your periodsWww@Answer-Health@Com
DON"T WORRY!!!! The last time i had a physical when i was your age the doctor did'nt ven look at any of my private parts!.!.i was really nervous about that too!.!.!.they just took my blood pressure and looked in my eyes and my nose and that stuff!.!.!.they also gave me two shots!.!.!.!.but there is really no need to worry!.!.!.and about the male doctor thing, you can always call the doctors office and switch to a female for your physical!! if the doctor is a male you can request that there is a nurse watching to so he wont do anything wierd
they have to make sure a nurse is there if you rquested

i completely understand!.!.!.!.!.!.but at 13 i didn't get a pap smear (when they check your vagina)!. they dont normally do that that young unless your sexually active!.
but if you are, or getting a pap smear for other reasons just ask for a female doctor, they wont have a problem with that and just know that there always has to be a nurse in there too!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.never just you and the doc!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just ask your mom to call them again and to change it to a female doctor!. I'm sure they will let you change if your not comfortable with a male doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
